I don't know what 5D underwater backgammon he's trying to pull, all I know is that I'm an american who was going to buy DQ3 until I saw the Type 1/2 thing and nope'd out. Unless he's trying to say Square Enix as a company made him do it, in which case I commend his extremely bold strategy of shitting on his own game and employers before it's even released.

Of note, while, yes, the devs do give some commentary about how age ratings overseas tends to create problems that lead to changes like this due to "compliance", they also had this to say at the beginning and end of the segment:

I mean the Japanese have a pretty broad spectrum of opinions. You have right-wing culture war grifters, you have woke tranny grifters, you have coomers etc. The median Japanese opinion is likely somewhere along the lines of, "Well rules are rules and [BIG CORPORATION] says it must be so so it must be so. しょうがない。"
Japanese game devs have always had an extremely uneasy relationship with censorship and the most outspoken about it are probably dudes between Sakurai and Horii's age as they experienced the Japanese game industry when it was basically the fuckin wild west before you started to see much more self-censorship starting in the 90s.
None of this is to excuse shit that tranny grifters are doing to fuck with games, it's just that the Japanese response to this is going to be, "welp more of the same what can you do" rather than some massive outcry that's going to exert market pressure on companies to behave differently.

If theres one thing I dont like its doomers who say that gaming is over. There are plenty of games that come out every year that are worth playing. You just have to know where to look. For me, I have found some games this year, (I'll admit its less than last year) that were fun and worth playing. But they were mostly Switch games/ Eastern games (Stellar Blade for ex.). And there are SOME indies that I found on Steam worth playing. So vidya isn't lost its more like getting all this woke shit out of the industry. Rn the woke propaganda is being exposed.
Its like u have a bad stomach ache, so u take a pill and then u have to shit. So u go shit bomb into the toilet. Then u feel better afterwards. The gaming industry is going through the shit bomb phase. U will see more shit being shat out (Assassins Creed Shadows) before things get better.

The Dokapon Kingdom remaster suffers from similar censorship to DQ3. And once again it's across all versions and not just the western release. In this case they added some unnecessary stockings just in case you get offended by bikini armor. There's also some unnecessary coloring added to the yellow female character's bra. In all cases it's some weird off black. It looks ok on the red female fighter but ridiculous on the yellow girl. It looks so pasted on.
Not sure what the point was. Dokapon Kingdom for PS2 and Wii were rated E. It was ok in 2008 but in 2023 it suddenly wasn't. Maybe it's one of those things where the chibi art causes pearl clutchers to think it's pedo porn.
I guess we'll be seeing a lot of this. Maybe someone will mod the original art back into DQ3.

Dokapon also got hit with changes in the Japanese version due to CERO ratings changes. CERO actually *has* gotten demonstrably stricter over the last decade or so and actually a lot of JP gamers are mad because foreign games from the US and Europe are often butchered or completely blocked by CERO (Until Dawn got butchered, Callisto Protocol was completely blocked for example). One of the many reasons why Steam has become popular in the country is because you can use a VPN to buy the US version of games and most of the time the US release will include 'Japanese' in its language settings.
Unfortunately there's not really a good option in reverse. Trannylators make sure to get exclusive publishing rights for the English translation so you can only buy it from them.
