Mega Rad Gun Thread

Anyone else having trouble with ammoseek? I go to sites that are supposedly free shipping and no tax if your in a different state, but when I go to checkout, they charge tax and shipping.

I gave up and ordered 3,000 rounds of 9mm from SG Ammo.
ammoseek is next to useless these days. I only use it to find scarce stuff.

Spuhr used to make a mount for the Aimpoint Comp M4 that had a ballistic compensation wheel and a magnifier mount on it. You could get it in either 5.56mm or 7.62mm NATO. I really wanted to get one for my LMT MWS308, but they were pretty expensive at like $800 and they're out of production now. I think Ian from Forgotten Weapons did a build with one a few years back. It was a pretty neat piece of kit and I wish they still manufactured them.
I had one. By the time you spend the money you could have a good LPVO and a red dot on your gun and have more capability for the same or less money, and same or less weight. IMO that system is good for a belt fed.
Hows the eye relief though?
I have a sig 4x and the eyebox is kinda small
It’s similar to other magnifiers. Move it back further on the gun if it’s a problem for you. I shoot with my stock fully extended and have the magnifier just in front of my rear BUIS. In prone the eye relief is perfect, standing I have to move my head forward. To me it’s a trade off to have a true 1x very low parallax, unlimited eye relief, huge eye box optic (Eotech EXPS 3-1) as my primary aiming system.

What’s the best site to buy bulk ammo during Black Friday sales? I’m tired of paying the Fudd tax at the range.
if it's something small or can't get through a distributor, i kinda like ammoman, sgammo (some don't like gabe personally, but the prices and inventory is pretty good), surplusammo, selway armory (usually a tad expensive, but can have oddball stuff like defensive loadings for 7.25mm Tok), 2a warehouse, targetsportsusa, sometimes aimsurplus, and if you aren't happy, try ammoseek.

georgia arms is pretty good too but low inventory sometimes.

edit: wanted to share this as a pretty good price and a decent weaponlight. https://palmettostatearmory.com/inforce-wmlx-weapon-mounted-light-gen-2-black-wx-05-1.html

Nobody cared about them when they were plentiful.

In 70 years people are gonna be saying the same thing about an “original gen3 Glock” that has been modified

Picked up a box of Underwood .41 Mag ammo. It's loaded with 230gr Elmer Keith hard cast lead semi-wadcutters traveling at 1450fps. That should definitely put some hurt on something.
The colt python was originally planned to come in .41 mag (5 shot) in addition to .357. unfortunately the wear on the action was deemed too much and colt declined to offer that variant.

Also does anyone know what good hollow points in 40 S&W are? I know Speer is a no brainer, I'm just wondering about everything else.
I wonder how much lighter than 180 grains you should run HPs in .40. Clubby probably knows. Let us know what you end up carrying in it.

Dang, I liked that site. I had a good experience with SG Ammo. But too bad Ammoseek is having issues.
coach guns are for fags
How dare you!

Goddamn! I thought the .44 magnum rounds (240 gr at 1320ish fps) were stout. Elmer Keith liked the big boomers.

Shot my model 29 today, recoil wasn't bad at all. I'm sure the 8 3/8 barrel and scope help weight it down a bit.
Can I trouble you to post pic of this when you're able to? I bet it looks badass

Yeah, a lot of the factory .44 Mag loads are lower than they could be, and a few of the factory .41 Mag loads are a bit warmer than the .44. Of course, when you get into custom loads things can become more interesting..41 Mag typically wins at velocity and is flatter shooting, and .44 Mag has a wider variety of bullet styles and weights, can accept heavier bullets, and can get higher ft. lbs. than .41 Mag.

Which is a bit of a trip for me. If one were to look at Buffalo Bore or Underwood, their 240 gr XTP loads are quite a bit more powerful than what I run. These are factory loads using SAAMI spec, and they're not listed as +P. I'm loading up 240 gr Hornady XTPs with 22.4 grains of H110, and I'm hitting an average of about 1320 fps. Yet most reloading manuals for that bullet weight are about ~100 fps slower, and that's listed as a high pressure loading.

It's strange to me to see reloading manuals and many factory offerings giving one basically Special peformance marketed as Magnum. I see similar with 10mm. Irritating.
