I didn't mind Max on BOTW, but i tend to just have it going in the background while i play games or something, i don't really watch the faces or see their reactions to their own jokes.

That said, the joke about him in that Half in the Bag episode (mention him, smash to credits) was pretty damn funny.

I can agree on Max Landis being a lolcow. His hissy fit when American Ultra was failing in the box office was enough to cement that and he hasn't improved since then. Some of the things he does are so bizarre and his films have done so poorly that I can't see how he keeps getting such great jobs in film. (Even a successful dad shouldn't be enough to excuse all his constant failures)

Saying that, when it comes to the poll, honestly I think it would be unfair to give Jack a thread. I'm not particularly bothered about Josh, he seems to be a bit of an SJW and sometimes seems offended when Red Letter Media make jokes that aren't PC enough but at least Jack seems like a genuinely nice and good hearted person. We can't all be Rich Evans.

I have a pretty :autism: interest in the Twilight Zone incident- (tl;dr Max's daddy made immigrant Asian kids work past the hours they should legally be working to do a dangerous stunt scene. Killed Vic Morrow and the two immigrant kids as a result) Max at one point claimed that he got sent the footage of the video LITERALLY every day from meanies!
He gets real fucking triggered when you bring up the fact his dad's negligence killed a grown man and two kids.

I got facts
1.) The Twilight Zone accident (I'm shortening it to TZA) was an accident that Papa Landis was at fault. He lied to parents and used loopholes to get around safety rules. Though acquitted of crimes later, Jon Landis is an asshole.
2.) "Every professional" abandoning him, as Max put it, was just Steven Spielberg ending their friendship because Jon was an asshole who killed three people. Jon's career was fine after the TZA.
3.) Reports show that Jon talked about how much Vic Morrow loved to be part of the movie at his funeral , going against what his ex-wife and girlfriend said (they claimed Vic hated the movie and regretted signing on.) Witnesses say it sounded more like a promo than a eulogy. Jon Landis is an asshole.
4.) Jon Landis claimed the accident stayed with him and he regrets it everyday and will for the rest of his life and it changed him as a film maker. Coming to America was the #1 movie at the time he said this. His career recovered from the TZA just fine.
5.) ALL OF THIS, the accident, the trial, the funeral, happened BEFORE MAX LANDIS WAS BORN. Yet, this is somehow about Max.


To recap, Max is using an accident that he wasn't even alive for, to gain sympathy by painting his father as a victim of the harsh media and judging public when in reality Jon Landis was an asshole who could've prevented the TZA if he didn't try to get around the rules and told the truth, also his personal connections were mostly unaffected and his career is/was fine.

Please stop buying his scripts Hollywood. Aside from Chronicle, which just copied Akira, all of his movies are box office failures. The Power Rangers movie looks like a mess because of him.

Look we can argue about studio interference and shitty scripts/good directors and good scripts/shitty directors and poor marketing and whateverthefuck until we're all blue in the face but it's becoming readily apparent with every new post-Chronicle flop that Max Landis projects just aren't fucking connecting with audiences. ANY audience. Not American Ultra, not Victor Frankenstein, not those shitty romantic comedies that didn't even get a wide release (as far as I know)....

My point being, if this was Jimmy Awshucks from a poor family in West Wee-Waa, Wisconsin who moved to Hollywood with no familial connections and a degree in screenwriting from Podunk U film school and, despite the 1 in 1 billion odds of this happening, wrote a hit film like Chronicle....only to have every subsequent movie with his name attached turn out to be dismal failures, you would never hear from him again. His imdb wouldn't even have a profile picture. American Ultra would have been the end of him....but nah, connections only get you so far and nepotism doesn't exist.
