Does "Movie"bob actually enjoy movies? What's a movie he really, really likes? Does the medium of film really excite him? Is he passionate about it? What does this slob bring to the table in terms of actual criticism besides autistic screeching?

Blob doesn't add or create any value to his chosen field. He doesn't even seem to actually enjoy it all that much.

From what I've seen his tastes are mealy as fuck. Like I imagine he'd probably say his favorite movie is Empire Strikes Back or something. Which granted isn't a bad movie but it's not really a masterpiece outside of its franchise.

I used to watch his movie reviews back when he was on the Escapist (this was well before I realized how much of an idiot he really was, and I wasn't very smart back then either) and looking back he always had this air of pretentiousness to him when in reality he mostly reviewed the mainstream mass-market movies (sans this one Bollywood movie he reviewed, Dhoom 3). He treated summer blockbusters like how Roger Ebert would treat an art film; I realized this when he praised the gun control themes and "deepness" of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, an otherwise shallow and emotionally hollow summer flick. Or how much he enjoyed Captain America: Winter Soldier, and don't get me wrong it is a very enjoyable movie, but Bob treated it like high-class entertainment, which it very much isn't.

This is a guy who only understands movies on a surface level and has the mental capacity to understand summer blockbuster movies and little beyond that.

*edited because I named the wrong Apes movie

I stumbled on his choices for the Best Films of 2016, and the top two choices are Art Films, with The Handmaiden at #1 and The Neon Demon at #2. However, Blob probably chose these movies for the fact that they're deliberately sleazy, well-made sex pervert films rather than for any serious sense of artistic merit.

His other choices in individual awards range from Hardcore Henry winning Best Cinematography :story:, to Isabelle Huppert winning Best Actress for Elle, which is Paul Verhoeven going back to subversive sleaziness. You can probably guess which part of that statement Bob likes more.

His Intro's pretty interesting, too:
The Movieblob Said said:
As I imagine most are aware, I'm a member and currently the Chairman of the Boston Online Film Critics Association, which late Friday night undertook voting for its year-end film awards. The results of said awards can be viewed HERE, and I invite you to share them as widely as you are able - every little bit helps.
Yes, Bob actually holds power in this group. :horrifying::horrifying::horrifying::horrifying::horrifying:

It really lends credence to the idea that the modern SJW having skeletons in the closet they want to atone for. It would also suggest they're little more than opportunists willing to shit all over the issues some may hold near and dear in order to get temporary attention.

Video games could stand some better female characters (the same could be said for males, t00) but good luck now.
I fully believe the part about SJWs having skeletons. Most of them seem to be the type that either use their ideaologies to elevate their status, while having gone against it in the past, or actually be the type of things they criticize other men as being, IE that guy in CON who would threaten suicide unless a girl showed him her tits.

Whenever someone says "Bob was always an SJW", this is usually the counter-argument presented. People usually don't go from "Hillary is Satan" to "Hillary is Jesus and can do no wrong" with no outside influence whatsoever.

Beyond that, he also went from SAYING SEXIST CRAP like calling Megan Fox "a blow-up doll" to backpedaling and trying his damnedest to become a male feminist ally in failed attempts to score brownie points order to lead the world to a "superior future".

So no, I don't buy the idea of Bob always being an SJW, especially with so much evidence pointing to the contrary.
I don't either. This legit feels like he's only doing it to try and gain pity points. Yet it's so aggressive to where it just feels like his old behavior's slipping through. In other words, he's changed, but only in the sense that he's aggressively defending woman and being PC instead of mocking both subjects.

Gets me to wonder if the reason why Blobert even bothered was because he hated the idea of Trump being president. I mean he never talked shit about the guy before the announcement. The problem with that though is that it still would have come out of nowhere, so who knows, in all honesty. Maybe he just wanted to jump on the bandwagon to increase his views, because he knows fuck-all about politics as it is.

I would assume so. Why else would he called MovieBob. Also he does add something new- An annoying, over-exaggerated Boston accent and cancer skin.

But in all seriousness, his kind is dime-a-dozen as it is, so not expecting anything different is to be expected at this point.

I do remember him liking Drive, which was sort of an art movie.

Were there any indie movies on that list? I don't remember Bob ever talking about indie movies, just the mainstream movies in the theater.

Drive was/is worshipped by a lot of autists because the main character was their power fantasy.

...In other words, Bob liked it for the exact reason he claims to hate in video games.

Bob also joked about wanting to be alive after Doomsday with Natalie Portman and a Czech porn actress. So there's some "objectifying" women in the past again.

The ultimate irony is that while Bob disapproves of lewd behavior, he longs to indulge in the most obscene shit imaginable. Take it from someone who's chronicled a lot of deviants, Kiwis: Lacking the courage to do so directly, he instead punishes himself (and others) with denial and self-abuse, withholding from them the very pleasures he longs to engage in, but cannot, because his moral busybody overlords do not approve.

If given the chance, he would be playing a Senran Kagura game right fucking now.

I'd guarantee he has a collection of rape porn and/or shit of that same general caliber.

I think this quote from Christopher Hitchens best sums up this mindset (it's frightening how many of his quotes about religion can be applied to Social Justice):

Because Social Justice IS a religion. You take all the ills of the world and place them on a nebulous, unproven force.(Satan/Patriarchy/Whatever) To defeat this nebulous force you must unflinchingly follow an often contradictory set of guidelines(Which are easily redefined on a whim by perceived authorities) to the letter. Anyone who questions these guidelines is to be cast out as a heretic and anyone in open defiance of the ideology is a sinner/bigot.

Wait.

Are these people serious about it? Someone seriously put Bob in a chairman position?

Why do I have a feeling that this is a cruel joke in which they pretend that Bob is important only to fuck him over and laugh at his (sadly earned) suffering?

About Bob being a SJW:

Some of the older views of Bob have been in existence long before Anita, Brianna etc became known. As Sargon said: Bob is a proto-sjw. Most of his current retarded views have been spoken way before SJWs became a thing.

EDIT: Social Justice is practically a religion at this point. The mentality is the same of a cult, its cultists feverishly obeying the rules set out by their religion and hunting those who disagree with them and purging the infidels who dare have differing opinions.

Few things about Bob being chair of some organization...

1) There are two groups (at least what I could gather), the Boston Film Critics Organization, and the Boston Online Film Critics Association. First of all, I have no idea why a city even needs a critic's organization, let alone two, but Bob is part of the latter, and isn't part of the former.

2) The people who are members of the BOFCA all look like they have actual careers outside of being a movie critic, or at least something which compliments it. Chipman stands out as the only person who doesn't really work with any outside publications, and even more laugh-worthy, the only things listed under him are shows he doesn't even produce anymore. What I'm getting at is this: it's pretty obvious the reason he got the chair is because he's the only person that probably has the time to organize shit. Even money says it's a glorified secretarial job.

3) It's a fucking club chair for a club for movie critics. So really, who the fuck cares? Him bragging about it is like someone bragging about their point score at the Kiwi Farms. It's probably taken me 10 minutes to type this up and do a modicum of research, which is about 9 minutes and 50 minutes too long to invest into caring about the topic.

Ah I understand. Thanks for clarifying it for me.

I can't help but notice how much Bob's and a couple of other pictures really stand out. You've got quite a few fairly professional or at least reasonable looking photos and then there's Blob's ugly mug with his tacky white jacket in a horribly grainy picture.

Seriously, which of these doesn't belong?
