It sounds like the mom was afraid that the dad might have sexually abused the OP and/or her sister (or that he was planning to do so something) and tried to find out from her without asking directly if he'd done something to her. Telling her daughter about the dad's porn use probably wasn't the best way to go about it, but I can understand why the mom reacted the way that she did. After all she'd just have to consider the possibility that her daughters might have been subjected to sexual abuse by her husband.

This is how my whole family found out my dad was bisexual/gay, he never specified or really admitted it and took it to the grave with him.
