Final Fantasy XIV - Kiwi Free Company

If I had to guess - and this is not an excuse - they couldn't manage more than three buttons without severe risk of forgetting to breathe.

Seriously?! The melee combo's the whole reason you play RDM!

As someone who used to play the job, I'm pretty sure it all boils down to a single spell: Verraise. I've seen a number of people in the community argue that it's the most important spell for a RDM, because of the ability to Dualcast; much like the old jokes of Gunbreaker being a "Blue DPS", Red Mage is supposed to be a "Red Healer", unironically. I remember someone on the forums arguing that RDM's damage actually needed to be nerfed, because it would "take it out of its niche as the support DPS" or some shit.

And yet, despite all that, I've only seen Verraise get used a handful of times; all on dungeon runs where the healers stood in the wrong space and died, or the tanks weren't tanking properly. It's basically makes RDM a "crutch" to help retards clear content that they should have otherwise been filtered by. Pretty much the main reason why I stopped using the job; got tired of carrying retards that refused to learn how to play the game.

Verraise is nice for progging savage / ultimates, but once your team has stopped dying 5+ times a pull it mostly stops being useful, and you're better off bringing a PCT if you don't have one already. All I want is for them to remove Verraise so that my beloved RDM can finally be where it's supposed to be, which is the TOP OF THE FUCKING DPS METERS!!! That will never happen though.
It's by far my favorite job, but it feels bad being among the worst jobs dps-wise. Oh well, at least we're not summoners. :)

It'd be better to rework Dualcast so that it doesn't get consumed when you use Sprint, and doesn't work on certain spells.
Verraise on its own doesn't mean that RDM should deal less damage than other casters (glares at SMN), but the fact that you have effectively infinite Swiftcast uses on it does.

Even then, the community would still regard Red Mage as the designated reviver over Healer jobs; I've seen people try and slow-cast Verraise, then get bitchy about content being "too hard". Game's full of retards who think that one spell ought to make them immune to criticism.

Fucking goddamn christ. I'm literally just past the first scene she's in and I'm already tempted to tap out.

I thought to myself, hey. 6.5 wasn't entirely devoid of value, at least not as bad as I expected from others comments. The archfiend raids were kinda good. Maybe I can push through this shit and just enjoy the dungeons and trials. Then this nigger bitch opens her goddamn mouth for the first time.

Literally every line delivered with faux familiarity and zero respect. Every. Fucking. Line. was so forced and tedious to listen to. It's not even just the shitty voice acting; the writing is below middleschooler fanfic tier. Why the fuck should any of the former scions give a shit about her request?

Why should we drop everything to go help this khajiit wannabe spaz who can't even ask us for help with even a shred of respect for who the main cast are at this point? Why can she just walk in and demand our attention? Krile and Graha have obligations and are part of a fairly influential organization in Sharlayan. WoL has literally slain multiple deities to preserve the world. She is 100% beneath all of us. She should be fucking *begging* for help, not waltzing in and just acting as though we're expected to go along with it.

Why is my character treating this like an urgent and serious matter? Fucks sake we just got back from killing a voidsent dragon god there is no reason I should be invested in some mexican nigger competition like it's just as important.

I hate it. I am angry and deserve my tophat stickers. Words cannot possibly express my disappointment. I thought I'd prepared myself by having no real expectations of quality and yet the start of DT somehow still manages to be lower than that. What a pitiable level for such an enjoyable game to sink to.

EDIT: At least Erenville seems as fed up with her shit as I do, or at least isn't kissing her ass. I think the lamest part of all this is that Mesoamerica would be a totally badass setting for an expansion if the writers weren't fucking hacks.

@Baguette Child Seeing your previous responses to the rest of FFXIV's storyline, and then seeing your reaction to DT's storyline... I think it paints a pretty good picture of what DT is like.
That's not DT, though. That's the lone teaser quest at the end of Endwalker that sets up DT.

Which is markedly more tolerable than DT.

My completely unwarranted and controversial hot take is

I actually liked Dawntrail up until Heritage Found. It was purely the entire back half of Dawntrail that soured the overall expansion for me.

In a way, I feel bad for the people who put all this trouble into designing an area as aesthetically pleasant as Living Memory too, only for the main story to dictate that you basically permakill the luster of the whole area and reduce it to "dead mall" ambiance. Also, Cahciua is a terrible mother and I will stand by that.

Yeah, just got to the new capitol city for the expansion before I called it a night. It was rough. Really rough. I don't know if I can do this, kiwis. I really did love FFXIV for what it was before now but this is painful and I'm only just barely past the title screen for the expansion. I'll push onward but I think I'll need some serious vodka to make the pain go away.

Also did the game just forget about tataru? Haven't seen her in awhile. And the fact Graha gets shafted and left behind after being the one Scion explicitly promised by WoL to be included in our next adventure feels disappointing. Maybe he's the lucky one though. He doesn't have to endure Wuk Lamat if he stays in Sharlayan.

There is a sidequest in Old Sharlayan that involves her, and was one of the few things tolerable writing-wise in the post-EW content. It clearly wasn't written by the MSQ moron.

As for DT, eh. Just go until you can't take it, then start skipping for the night. There are significant portions of the story where I don't know what happened because I couldn't take it and started skipping. Otherwise, you'll burn yourself out or start stopping way too early. There's no use in being performatively mad about the story - it won't help things - but even coming in with the rosiest expectations, it's just boring.

I already had started skipping post-EW when the literal redditor learned about the power of friendship by sticking her hand into a proverbial electric socket on the first. To this day I have no idea what happened in that plotline after that moment, I don't really care, and I've seen no reason to believe it'll ever come up again.
