Formerly Maddie Ringtail, and whatever the fuck it was known as before that. Note it's also one of the site's myriad unironic otherkin these days.

Facepunch had a lot of problems, but nothing like this. What happened to the remnants of its community is a tragedy.

I'm convinced this all comes from Tudd Fudders. 7 years later and his specter is still felt on Knockout as the remaining users had been so "traumatized" by his presence that everything they do has this undercurrent of making sure there can never possibly be another Tudd, and meanwhile I doubt the guy even thinks about Facepunch anymore. He had his fun for a few years before moving on to greener pastures, and now they're all buck-broken forever. It's indisputable: Tudd won.

Spoiler: Rundown for those not in the know

Tudd was this one alt-right faggot during the later Oldpunch days who constantly posted MAGA propaganda from conspiracy rags like Infowars and Before It's News in the news and politics sections and would often shit up other (often completely unrelated) threads by spamming alt-right memes out of nowhere, covering his ass with the usual sniveling "I just think it's an interesting article" plausible deniability bullshit in the former case and simply running away without responding in the latter case the moment he was called out. He was the kind of cowardly little shit who thought he was slick but any half-competent mod team would see what he was doing after just the 2nd or 3rd time and punt his ass out for good.

Problem was that the retards on the Oldpunch mod team, nepotistic and inbred with the GMF as they were by that point, constantly covered for and even encouraged him behind the scenes for lulz. It got to the point where they even promoted him to mod one April Fools' Day and granted him a fucking massive screen-height Pepe avatar, which he retained for the rest of Oldpunch's lifespan even after he was demodded the next day. It was a constant reminder that he had the mods' favor, even before former head mod Hezzy was outright caught having private Discord conversations where he admitted to egging Tudd on specifically to aggravate people rather than, you know, doing his fucking job.

But before you bleat "based", the problem is that Tudd projectile-shitting everywhere slowly drove the more moderate users away from the site, leaving behind only the far ends of the political spectrum: either other chuds yukking it up at the spectacle and SJWs who made it their holy mission to oppose Tudd. Newpunch rolls around and with it comes a user database reset, including a partial staff shakeup and fresh starts for anyone permabanned in the past. The SJWs quickly take the opportunity to claim power in the new vacuum and go about cleaning house, driving out the other remaining chuds like Boilrig (a Brexit fanboy from New Zealand of all places) and begin ratifying a "proper" culture for the forum.

TL;DR: One single alt-right troll was being such a nuisance (with the mods' implicit blessing) in the mid-2010s that a whole bunch of SJWs got assblasted and started to consolidate power as all the sane users left in droves to not have to deal with him anymore.

Fast-forward to Garry shuttering FP for good and everyone left moving to KO, the last of the old mod team gets the boot and the new SJW mods continue to promote their clique buddies. And so determined they are to ensure KO remains a "no Tudd zone" that the site becomes more and more of a purity spiral over time, booting out even leftist users the moment they don't toe the SJWs' party line. And of course, part of that constant Good Person™ purity check necesstates always showing Tolerance™ toward the ever-increasing depravity, going from "boring" gays (no problem) and one or two not-insufferable trans users (ok, whatever) to an outright troon infestation (ugh) to otherkin and plurals (what the fuck).

After all, if you don't accept our robodragon girldicks and 27 headmates, then Tudd will come back!

And it's really a shame, since there's still a lot of real talent on that site. Facepunch had always been full of legitimately skilled and creative individuals due to being the Source modding nexus back in the day, but they've all either been branded persona non grata and driven out, or been fed the kool-aid and turned into abominations of gender in order to maintain their standing with the cult. A lot of good dudes, talented dudes, peer-pressured into decadent freaks.

As someone who's been following Ultrakill since near its conception right around the move from FP to KO, the game's meteoric rise from an amateur's .zip file on itch.io to a Steam superstar was something to behold. I don't think anyone quite predicted the game would end up rivaling Gmod itself in popularity and becoming one of the biggest success stories in all of indie gaming, but it's clear that Ultrakill has become Knockout's biggest claim to fame in lieu of any other successful project, barring horrifying bullshit like KoboldKare.

Some Quakefag who trooned out combined his furry degeneracy with advanced idTech mechanics so depraved specimens like those on KO can simultaneously masturbate both intellectually and physically, by going through Hammer surf maps to collect resources for "raising" adult, grotesquely sexualized naked sparkledragons on a Harvest Moon farm. Trimp and bhop your way to shoving a giant egg up an anthro lizard's horsedick!

For what it's worth, Ultrakill is a well-made game. Really well-made. At least it was, last time I played it a few years ago after the Layer 6 update. It's smooth, it's intuitive, it provides a real challenge yet presents comprehensive accessibility features (seriously, the game is a case study in accessibility done right), and it takes a lot of notes from the greats of shooters past to create something that really feels like the culmination of what a hardcore FPS fan might want. It's also an example of a high-quality game made on Unity, which was still suffering reputational problems back when the game began development. Speaking of, it's been making steady progress since 2018 (way before retraux, N64-looking "boomer shooters" had become as saturated a market as they are nowadays), demonstrating an admirable work ethic on Hakita's part despite the limited size of his dev team. Overall, it's something I'd have heartily recommended a few years ago and still would've even today, if not for the circumstances of the people around and behind it.

Unfortunately, as everyone on KO saw the game becoming the forum's crown jewel, the usual suspects have been circling Hakita like sharks for a while, trying to turn the game into a vehicle to push their bullshit to a wide audience, infiltrating its dev team and grooming the poor kid. There was even talk several years ago where some of them wanted him to put a link to KO on the game's main menu, but Hakita put the kibosh on that at the time as he saw it as his personal project and didn't exactly want to present Ultrakill and KO as inherently intertwined. Lord knows if he still thinks the same nowadays, though.

Sadly, one look at the game's thread titles over the years should reveal how much they've infested its production--oldest at bottom.

Allow me to clarify: I don't know for sure whether KK uses an iteration of idTech or any of their derivatives like Source, or if they deliberately programmed all those mechanics into another engine like Unreal or Unity that doesn't otherwise have them. I'll leave it to you to decide which of those options is worse, but the point is that half the game--the half not about nude dragons with horsecocks, and I can't believe that half actually has competition for which half of the game is more pathetic--is all about some autist being unable to let go of 20-year-old movement jank from games no one plays anymore. So unable, that it's entirely possible they methodically went in and reintroduced all that jank to a more modern engine just so they can pretend all those thousands of hours they put into "mastering" something no one cares about back in the day weren't a total waste of time.
