Hurricane Milton

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
MIltons eye is looking more stable. He's also taken on a spiral galaxy shape.

Not living in FL, so I have a question: Imagine you're "well" prepared and got food, drink and some shelter covered. What is the potential lethality of a Cat 5 hurricane? How lethal would Milton be in a full "Cat 6" worst case scenario?
  • "You may live, but you will suffer dearly"
  • "You'll need a miracle to survive"
  • "Try to make peace with god. That's all you can do now."
If it's still CAT 5 when it makes landfall, you're going to have a very bad day. Regardless of how well preparred you are.

The two main dangers are the storm surge. The wind pushing massive amounts of ocean water ahead of it, flooding coastal areas. With powerful storms this can be huge. Somewhat akin to tsunami.

And wind speed. Wind speed can allow you to become complacent. Most hurricanes make landfall with windspeeds below 100 miles an hour. Building codes in Florida are designed for this. So long as the storm surge hasn't undermined your foundation. Above 100 things get unpleasant. Very unpleasant. Get close to 200 and whether the building codes will work is a crap shoot. Your roof will probably go bye bye. Along with your walls, pets, small children.

If you want to be horrified look at some day after photos from huricane Andrew.

if your in florida and your not in an evacuation zone, consider contacting shelters. many are looking for emergancy fosters.

im not sure how it works if your in an evac zone. they might still need help so actually i would call regardless of where u are if you have the ability
Stop giving out advice on things you don't have a clue about just like retards on Twitter do.

I don't know what to be more depressed by: the fact that a lot of innocent people are going to die in this monster of a hurricane due to their stubbornness, or the fact that complete fucking idiots who genuinely think this is a government psy-op get to live through it without issue.
I don't know if I'd call them idiots, they aren't the ones living in Florida.

You can see clearly in this infrared satellite loop that wind shear had been eroding the northern eyewall, and very nearly broke it, until Milton fired up one hot tower and rebuilt it in one go. Also note the eye itself getting warmer and starting to clear, another sign that he's nearly ready to put on another show.

BISSELL Pet Foundation’s Empty the Shelters

this is the shelter i went through if anyone wants more info they can look.
idk how anyone could possibly have something negative to say about caring about something other then yourself but here we are

I'm looking for realistic info on projections for Milton, but a lot of what I'm seeing from a search feels alarmist or click bait.

Where can I get good info? Ps. Friends and family who are both from Naples evacuated north last night, got gas thank God and are on the road atm.

I hate hurricanes.

Controlled hurricanes, also known as prescribed hurricanes, involves creating planned tropical cyclones to maintain the health of an urban environment. These storms are scheduled for a time when the fire will not pose a threat to the storm managers. In addition, political conditions should call for a controlled storm and weather conditions should be right to allow a hurricane but not enable it to spread out of control. Materials destroyed in a planned storm include trailer parks, strip malls, trees (including urban jungle) and Florida men.

You missed one of the word changes needed to make a prescribed burn from the forest service and a copy/paste of the wiki description of it to whatever the fuck you were trying to do. Better luck next time?

That's the forecast discussion. It a summary of why and how the forecaster came to the determination. It isn't really meant for layman public consumption. The public advisories are the vehicle to disseminate information to the masses. We have multiple weather autists in the thread; I am posting it for discussion with them.
They seem to have understood what it said and were just making a quip. And fwiw I appreciate these are being posted - precisely because it reads much more conversationally and laymanesque than I would have expected. I could even kick it up a science half-notch, despite being neither a general autist nor a weather-focused one.

And the reason I can is the helpful impact-based explainers of pressure drop, eyewall replacement, and events. - so thank all of you providing concrete, clear info about how hurricane systems behave, what's happening in this one hour-to-hour, and then how that could impact what happens to the places it goes.

Bringing in "and here's what you can expect to see after x happens" is refreshing and helpful for processing. I've been in/around hurricanes my whole life, usually up the Coast, so I'm familiar, and I'm familiar with the basics of how they function, but I'm not an active weather phenomenon aficionado, and reminders that include somewhat detailed explanations + practical impact are helpful. This storm is ripping right across a ton of current and recent-generation historical extended family, as well as a couple of acquaintances I know in/south of Tampa, and I'm anxious to see how it's developing and what that potentially means for whom. So thanks to those folks again.

Campaign prediction: Trump spends out of pocket to send trucks full of water and socks/underwear to the disaster area, FEMA turns them away. Trump publishes his supplies being denied by The Swamp on social media and promises FEMA reforms if elected. Even the blue states are impressed/disgusted by current regime and hand him the election 80-20.

Copmala & antifa retards claim the election was stolen because the hurricane damage prevented their mail-in ballots from being counted and the whole hurricane zone was actually blue territory the whole time.
I think the Hurricane will somehow pick up Ralph and fling him onto Florida with the power of the fat man atomic bomb. Only Null will survive due to playing League of Legends via Starlink and a waterproofed Tesla battery in his mother’s flooded basement.

I don't pretend to have any real answers to the question, but I am entertained that regular posters in the TDS Containment PastureDonald Trump lolcow thread start showing up once people discuss weather manipulation. And when they show up, it's to insist weather manipulation is just a right-wing conspiracy theory, and likely antisemitic as well. inb4 ban
