The idea is they float safely around the flooded area and are easy to spot by rescue parties IIRC. They're also expensive and take up a bit of space though.

From someone who lives in the very mountainous PNW, 300ft is basically sea level dude...????? Florida is above sea level. It's high point is 345 ft above sea level. There are small parts that are below sea level including the Everglades but the whole state aint below sea level lmao
