What is your ideal gun, Lidl?

If you really want to dig deep into his backstory, Jason Clower (the Type 56 video series guy), linked to his personal blog in his latest video: https://leansoliddogs.blog/about/

On checking his blog, I immediately realized that over the years, I (and probably a few others here) have actually already read many of his lengthy articles about French and SADF milsurp gear - boots, hats, load-bearing equipment, etc.

He is big into using and testing NATO and ComBloc milsurp gear for his outdoor hiking and search-and-rescue work. But the blog seems to be missing some articles. I remember a few years ago reading some detailed reviews of French jungle boots and headgear that are now missing.

Among all the milsurp, hiking, and field craft articles, there are also personal blog posts that I have never bothered reading. The strangest one I saw in skimming was about his past experiences as what he seriously describes as a "Buddhist fundamentalist", so maybe he was a in cult at some point.

Also in the sidebar of the blog where people would put recommendations for other blogs and websites, he links to Sargon of Applebee's youtube channel. So he could be dangerously based.

Now that I realize it's the same guy, I remember my impression of him as milsurp blogger being that he was very articulate and extremely well-read, and really seemed to put his equipment through its paces before reviewing it. But I was sometimes disappointed that he reviewed repros that were inferior to original production without really addressing the potential performance difference. And sometimes, for quite a few reviews, he would actually be rather sparse on detail about how the gear performed for him and most of the review would be about the historical background and context of the specific item of kit, which was still engaging, but not that useful as a practical review.

Not really a guntuber, but the Active Self Protection guy looks different every time I see him. Last time a video of his showed up in my feed, he was fat, had jheri curls and a full beard. Now he's discovered ozempic, is clean shaven and his hair somehow looks worse than before. I think this is the 2nd or 3rd weight loss arc he's been on since I first noticed his channel.

ngl there has to be some CIA psy-op trying to make the Joaquin Phoenix phenotype look as uncool as possible. It already started with the shitty Napoleon film last year making him into a cuck (lmao? he's fucking Napoleon for fucks sakes! If anything his wife IS the cuck) and then obviously Joker 2, but now Cardposting and more.

PSA STG is kill for now
Like 4 years ago I got into an argument in with a user in this thread about how difficult firearm reproductions are, especially for stamped firearms like the STG44 after it got canceled the first time.

If he hadn’t got banned for being a massive sperg I would’ve sent him this again lol.

It looks like you’ll have to pay Dittrich 6k if you want a repro STG.

The problem with these historical gun "reproductions" is that the value of an STG44 lies in its rarity and it's historical significance.

New production of a small run, complex to manufacture firearm chambered in an obsolete cartridge, that has missed out on 80 years of small arms development, doesn't strike me as a license to print money.

I thought stamping was the cheap way to do things. Is the tooling ridiculous or something?

It is, for mass production once you have all the kinks worked out of your design, tooling, presses, materials etc.

For the original STG44 when you're banging them out by the 10s or 100s of thousands yeah absolutely, for some boutique special order gun fuck no.

If you guys want to know if Brynn is a tranny for sure or not someone's going to have to look into it more. She lives somewhere around Vancouver WA. Probably Longview. The source for that is a couple of pictures of hers have locations from there in them and the fact I've seen her in person there.

She goes to the Clark county gun range. She doesn't appear to own a home for the little I've looked into it. But the areial photography is good in the area for anyone autistic enough to find her back deck from pictures.

"Hello, lovely young lady! May I see your dick?"

Stamping is cheap in the same manner that injection molding is cheap: it allows for extremely high production volumes using a small amount of tooling. In both cases, however, the tooling itself is typically extremely expensive, especially for large parts (dies for the STG44 receiver would be in the 6 figure range, easily), and requires a large amount of engineering effort and knowledge to get it working right in the first place, further adding to the cost.

Hey at least the replacement dies (yeah they wear out) should only cost mid 5 figures because you already did the engineering and only have to pay for the custom fab work!

I like how we have the "stamping is expensive to set up?!" Conversation on roughly the same cycle as the "Brynn Woods, tranny?" Conversation.

The startup cost is massive for the tooling and almost always has teething issues to sort out, furthermore the STG44 in particular has some very complex stampings that are both larger and more intricate than they really need to be. All that is before you get into the necessary re-engineering that would be required to bring that dogshit gun up to market standards for safety and ensuring that you don't make a rifle that grenades itself after a couple thousand rounds.
