Lego Thread - Because KF wasn't already autistic enough.

Also the lego friends stuff has to be the lowest point they've ever hit. That shits just embarrassing. I'm not even sure who the market is even supposed to be for that. Surely not kids. No zoomer baes or alphas would be paying for that shit. 40 year old autistic wine moms maybe?
LEGO Friends just is LEGO doing their own shit with their own IP. It's wildly successful because they're good sets and colored just enough that girls don't mind buying them.

They also were brilliant in that the minidolls and minifigs are the same size and so they just work as city-scapes.

They've certainly realized that they can seriously lean into "older fans" - back at the turn of the millennium the adult fans were ignored or actively fought against.

I may or may not have metric fucktons of LEGO.

Holy shit there are two star wars sets that cost $850 each. Poors gtfo.

You know what's underrated? Duplo. That shit is cash money and you can actually find it at Goodwill from time to time.

Yes, kids do still play with this shit - it's an entire aisle at Walmart and they don't fuck around with shit that don't move. That LEGO Mario thing is currently the hot shit around here, thank goodness they finally redid the boxes to be normal and not strange and homosexual.

EDIT: Fuck you doggam fuckers I just moved a bunch of fucking LEGO into storage and now you got me buying more.

I really like how a lot of Friends sets are designed, some even give off Paradisa vibes to me which is a high compliment since that's one of my all time favorite Lego subthemes. But the minidolls are just too uncanny for me. The good thing about Lego I guess is you can always sell the minidolls on BL and put in proper yellow minifigs like God intended.

Two great new Ninjago leaks!

Is that a MUNDANE CITY PLAYSET I see and not diorama slop?! The Iron Man car is also pretty cool; 2025 Marvel has really surpassed my expectations. This may be the best Marvel wave in years. Lego is really benefitting from forcing a racing/F1 theme for 2025; my wallet will sure be empty at the end of it all. I'm a bit sad we didn't get more space Marvel stuff in 2024 (I'd love a Spiderman spaceship) if this is what they're doing, but this is still great.

/toy/ is saying Just2Good is on Ozempic because he's been losing weight geg. So far all the juicy gossip about this tard post-troonout is:
>Goes to furry conventions
>Talks about his furry fetish in his Animal Crossing reviews
>Disowned Lego because his Youtube is dying and he wants to make his tranny movie
>Groomed into trooning out by Duckbricks and has sex with Duckbricks in that hoarder basement
>Went to the hospital for an unknown reason (probably something sexual or otherwise embarrassing)

What do you guys think of the new LEGO City Space sets ? Do you own any/have any favourites ?

The whole line is EXCELLENT. I highly suggest getting as many as possible -- the mech is cool (I figured out how to transform it into a speeder by only removing one part), the 4+ set is neat since it has a lab, the small spaceship has a cool warp drive system, the command rover is mind-blowingly amazing, and the crane is also great. The City jungle camera truck is also very cool.

Here's a new Icons set I'm thinking of buying. Shackelton's Antarctic explorer ship Endurance. 32" long, around 3000 parts, works out to around 1/54 scale. I'm really enjoying the Titanic build, so I think another ship model is in order.

The Command Rover with the crane loader is indeed awesome! I plan on buying it and the last time I checked it was on sale so I'm lucky. I also find the Modular Space Station interesting, maybe I'll find this on sale too... Oh and the Space Base and Rocket launchpad!

Not Lego, but I guess Hasbro REALLY doesn't want to bring back Kreo:

It's a shame so many of the more interesting Mega sets, like this and the Eternia Tower, are locked behind Mattel Creations these days. They could print money if these had widespread releases!

The last like over a decade or so I've been seeing people modify the halo/call of duty mega bloks set minifigures into gi joe ones. Image search brings up a good amount of examples.

The more recent of the last several years people got into 3d printing new compatible parts for those customs, as well. There is no fucking doubt these things would sell. But much like haslab shit the last few years or the mattel creations pre-order exclusive eternia playset, these fucking companies clearly value "value speculators" over actual sales numbers.
The HISS should have been it's own set instead of a pack in. One fothe most popular vehicles in toy history and you cram it in as a bonus instead of a small affordable build.

Sorry for double posting, but I was about to leave this rambling screed in an A&N thread about adults buying toys before realizing it'd ft better here.
There's something with lego that's been bugging me lately the last few years. It's not a matter of the obvious shit like the quality drops or the "bio degradable plastic" that they're slowly adding which will probably eventually mold your 500 dollar sets, no it's something else.
Lego weirdly has no faith in their own IP anymore (aside from ninjago and city) to the point they bundle their other themes in with ninjago or city sets, or n some cases expensive GWP bonuses on their site for spending like 300 dollars.

Space came back again, but it's hampered by being just "city". Not the same as older lego city space sets where they were more based in realism but like just straight up scifi lego space but stuck with the lego city space color schemes. Space isn't the only one stuck like that. See: this lego city roller coaster "robot world" set:

Does that mech look familiar to you? Yeah it's a new exo force set literally jammed into a city set to bump up the price.
EDT: Saw other photos of the set, there's other theme references in there but it's a shame they just don't start making these mech sets as their own theme again.

This issue is not just limited to the expensive "kid" sets either! One of the "adult sets" of the theme park series they were doing was "haunted house". It was tower of terror based and came with a bunch of generic minifigs so you'd assume "ah just something generic but spooky" right?
WRONG!
1731629824247.png
IT IS LITERALLY BARON VON BARON'S HOUSE CONVERTED INTO AN AMUSEMENT PARK RIDE AND FILLED WITH REFERENCES TO ADVENTURERS.
IT ALSO CONTAINS NO FIGURES TIED TO ADVENTURERS SO YOU'D NEED TO HUNT DOWN THE ORIGINALS OR THE TRIBUTE/REMAKES FROM THE MNFG BLIND BAGS THE LAST SEVERAL YEARS IF YOU WANTED TO PUT THE RELEVANT CHARACTERS IN THE FUCKING HOUSE.
IT WAS ALSO 300 DOLLARS AND IT'S POWER FUNCTIONS WERE TIED TO AN IPHONE APP.

Personally, I'd REALLY love to have this set, but when it was available the last 3 years or so it was and still is far beyond my budget to pay for a lego set, especially one that is reliant on a phone app for it's motor gimmick to function correctly and doesn't contain any characters that might actually reside in there (aside from sam sinister's corpse hanging int he attic as a reference to how his name became sam sinister for no reason with the actual guy named sam sinister vanishing). They made a high effort tribute set to an extremely popular theme many people wish would come back in any capacity and then tried to retroactively make it into a generic city amusement park thing but for adult collectors by not including any of the relevant cast of characters.

I found some photos online that actually used the figures the house was clearly made for, and they fit perfectly. Hell, maybe even MORE than perfectly. Really a shame.

Back to the "every original theme being lumped into city or ninjago in a way that was actually done kind of right: They finally released an actual physically buyable minifig of rocket racer after over 20 years of him existing, and he was just included in the bare minimum 4-5 dollar stunt bike sets. By himself. With a bike with his logo on it. Yes technically he already got stealth released as race car guy in the minifig collector series a whole before this but this is him without the shitty generic cover they do on most lego remakes/updates these days.

Though unfortunate it's yet another popular lego IP now locked into city, it's at least something that makes sense in terms of release. Hoping he doesn't get scalped years down the line like the rock raiders chief figure they released by himself to make it easy to get the leader of the rock raiders is now.

Now, this isn't covering the references and homages the monkie kid and ninjago sets are bizarrely super stuffed with. Those are fine and great I'm cool with stuff like that in sets. It's when lego is weirdly ashamed of being itself or lumping entire remake sets into unrelated sets to bump the price up that bugs the fuck out of me.

It's not really weird when you consider that Lego's licensing agreements prevent them from making original IPs that could compete with those licensed sets and that the licenses sell better because they're more recognizable to kids. The only people who care about original Lego IPs are a small subset of fans who can afford the big, expensive sets, and kids have more connection to the City brand than a fresh IP, so Aquazone/Power Miners/Space/Adventurers go into City. Sadly, Rocket Racer and Exo-Force aren't relevant to kids now, so they get relegated to small references in the big sets.

Rocket Racer and Exo-Force aren't relevant to kids now,
I found out around the time they added Rocket racer as a set that he became like a guy in the main cast of named characters they had for city's weird tie in thing that exists even though he's like only been in 2 sets. This isn't even counting the other characters that keep getting brought back every few years and the fact lego straight up by still having original ip at all means "possibly competing" ips to their licensed stuff.

It's fucking weird hearing him talk in actual non-subtitle speech but his voice at least fits.
Weird/neat thing I noticed about rocket racers modernized design, he's got a goatee around where his lower lip detail was on the original unreleased figure so if the helmet's on it kind of looks like that's still there.
He's also an unlockable character in the 2k lego racing game and literally the only worthwhile skin, even if they forgot to include his asymmetrical sleeves and just called him "rocket stunt driver", if you ever feel like trying that game out.

Why not though? I mean, I know they're discontinued and you can't find any in official stores nowadays but you can find some sets at garage/yard sales/car boot sales, flea markets, thrift/charity stores or (lego) marketplaces.

Off-topic but anyone remembers LEGO Elves? It's a fairly new-ish IP (2015-2017/8 )
I think this set looks really promising, I like that green portal on top of the fortress.

I just checked pick a brick, something i've done on and off despitenever really ordering stuff from there most of the time due to the way orders get split up with over 30 day wait time ones vs. shit that shows up n a week or so but I just noticed a relevant part to the expensive fuckng adventurers homage set thing I was rambling about.

I don't know what recent set it came in but you can buy a 30 cent modern style johnny thunder head if you want one. Lego could and should have put this in that set, even f he was like in a generic citizen outfit or something.

EDIT: FOUND OUT WHAT HE'S FROM IT'SA FULL REMAKE MINIFIG THAT'S IN A 11 DOLLAR CITY SET.
EDITX2: NO IT'S MORE THAN ONE SET
thought it was from a castle set or something due to the figure already having a CMF remake a few years ago but no NO HE'S JUST IN CITY NOW TOO LMAO.

CMF remake for those that never saw that. This one's weirdly in Lego fortnite by the way, but named "sawyer" for some reason.
1731681946602.png
I don't get why nether of these use the OG hat he had when they literally pulled it's design out of retirement to make the later-ish lego movie figure of him like how classic space helmets came back from those movies. God that's gonna be 10 years n lke 2 or 3 years and it doesn't feel like it.
1731682160400.png
I also hate how the only plain listing photo I found of the lego movie set one has the hat on wrong but that's another story.

It was 10 years in February.

That small ATV was scalped to oblivion because of Johnny Thunder. Fortunately, the truck with the camera wasn't, and that's a very good set even without Johnny Thunder. They probably didn't use the old hat so it wouldn't look too outdated -- Adventurers is more niche than Classic Space, so many people wouldn't have understood why such an old-looking Lego piece is in brand-new sets.

Yeah that's fucking insane to me. Was less talking about the movie itself there and more the sets ted to it snce those kept coming out for a few years till the second movie got announced and they made ones of that one (which killed the lego movies kind of). The eternal hell loop of stagnation shit since 2016 and 2020 really have fucked with time perception honestly.

The hat was only used for the character so you'd think they'd do another new mold Instead of just using the original Lego Indiana Jones fedora. Also didn't know about the scalping. That's kinda nuts considering I just see listings for it everywhere for MSRP right now.

EDIT: Went to a local store that sold used minifig parts for like 50 cents each, got some interesting stuff. A lot of parts didn't get in the bin they had got a weird grime on them I hope is just dirt lmao. Got an old ice planet chief torso that was clean save for werd black mystery scuffs on the arms, and a whole lot of small neon orange parts including the skis. No visor in that color, sadly.
