Crossposting evidence that Drew may be the one behind the "Stallman Report":
The primary evidence is in the attached screenshots. Looking at the historical A records for the stallman report, we can see that it was temporarily hosted on the exact same IP address as the one currently hosting Drew DeVault's website/blog.

The secondary evidence is that looking at the HTML for both websites reveals that they're both using the Hugo framework. It would make sense that someone would choose a familiar technology, rather than learning a completely new one just to publish this one report.

Drew himself was caught on the orange website pretending to have "read most of the report", implying he wasn't the author. However, given that the same IP and same framework was used for both the report and Drew DeVault's personal website I doubt this is simply a coincidence, specially considering the past hatred Drew has displayed against Stallman.

There's no "anonymous authors" for this report, it's just Drew targeting an autistic 71 year old cancer survivor and trying to hide behind anonymity to avoid backlash.

I thought I posted all screenshots, but just one is showing up so I'll post the other ones again.

And here's Drew himself, pretending he's not the author of the report.

Playing devil's advocate for a bit: 46.23.81.157 is a Sourcehut IP, and Sourcehut offers static webhosting with Hugo, so it could just be somebody from Drew's circle of friends. The way the host switches to Cloudflare just before the big publication is super suspect though.

E: I thought this was mentioned here, but it was in Drew's own thread: He showed up to the HN thread not even half an hour after it was made.
Drew removed the website for stallman-report.org from his server, causing it to 404. But he forgot to remove the TLS certificate:

The report domain also uses the same registrar (1api.net) as the majority of Drew's domain listed in OP.

this 'women represent just 3%' comes from a 2017 international github survey (source|archive) and the '23% of industry programmers generally' comes from a 2023 american survey (source|archive). isn't this empirically incorrect? the american survey also differentiates between computer programmer, software developer, and software quality assurance analysts and testers. the github survey has no age limit while the american survey has an expectation of age 16 and older. good thing other people mention it so that drew can boost his made-up statistic into validation.

Yeah this is like comparing apples to everything at the grocery store. Quickly going over the numbers in the github survey there are 3387 individuals who identified as 'Man', 125 who identified as 'Woman", and 2305 who left it blank. Now i haven't taken stats in years, and did marginally ok at it in the first place, but i don't think you can draw reasonable conclusions from this data set. I also looked for nationality, or current country of residence, but all i could find was immigration status, ethnic minority status.

There's so many trannies in open source distorting things that you can't draw any conclusion whatsoever about sex. Anecdotally it seems that there's about two or three troons in open source for each woman - but I know that women like to choose gender-neutral names online, so they don't get preyed upon by creepy autists.

To nobody's surprise, Drew DeVault is indeed the author of the Stallman Report.

How do I know? A KF user showed me a history of the certificates for drewdevault.com, which contains this:

Very suspicious, but not quite there yet. The link is dead. Fortunately, Wayback Machine has an archive, and would you look at that:

That's conclusive proof for me. Drew, your opsec is shitty as always. At least don't be a pussy and have the balls to publish this spergout under your name.

Oh man, mandatory TLS certificates that leak DNS information fucked him over? That's hilarious. Fuck those TLS bastards who think private information should be broadcast to the whole fucking world. Still, here it's funny. What a spiteful son of a bitch Drew is.

Here's an interesting thought: How did this get archived? I doubt Drew linked this draft somewhere the Wayback machine could crawl it, but the Wayback machine allows you to explicitly request archival. I think Drew's friend circle might have a saboteur in its midst. :story:
