Firstly, fucking l o l at the video, it feels like a drug trip made from my memories of 1.7.10. Secondly, what mods are you using besides Dragon Block C? Oh and what texture pack for the last screenshot, looks like a solar flare.
What's your most nostalgic version of Minecraft? For me it's 1.8 Beta. I was so excited for it as a child.
Much as I love 1.7.10, 1.2.5 was the one I played the most as a kiddo. It wasn't called the Golden Age for nothing (though it was mostly 1.2.5 and below)! There's even a plebbit dedicated to that version that's still active. Some say 1.8 was when the downfall of Minecraft began, some say 1.20, I'd wager 1.3 since it was the foundation of a lot of the issues that MC now has.

I believe its LB Photo Realism the texture pack. as for the mods, i got customnpc+ (advanced version of the original custom npcs mod), backhand mod (pretty much a dual wielding mod thats compatible with DBC), MoreMeat2 (a mod that gives all vanilla mobs edible meat after being killed), Et Futurum Requiem (brings future blocks, features, items brought down to 1.7.10), Village Names (brings modern villages and a few structures to this minecraft), Novacraft (brings sculk and the warden into minecraft with a few other things), underground biome constructs (replaces vanilla stone with much better varieties of stone to make the caves look prettier), gun customization mod and like 500 more other mods.

Speaking of drug trips, this mod here im demonstrating is Psychidelicraft, pretty much drugs like alcohol, shrooms, cocaine and other crazy shit to enhance your visuals. Also a few other mods in this vid are shown are, AnyPet (pretty much lets you turn any mob into your personal pet and can be leveled up and use some tools and armor), Pokeball (it lets you store any mob you want into it), Fancy Block Particle (the cool looking blocky particles that show when you break a block or land on it hard), RTM (real train mod, it adds more than just trains, it adds other vehicles like a cars, boats, and even non vehicles like guns, and actual functioning mirrors.), Zeldaswordskills continuation (adds the legend of zelda themed items and dungeons into the game with various loot and sword skill abilities you can learn), Customskymod (lets you use or make any custom skyboxes for minecraft thats why my sky looks so odd looking minus the drugs)

I've been on and off deciding if I should try modding for minetest but it looks like it's a bit dogshit as a foundation. first I'd need to fix player controls to be more tolerable then see what is actually feasible with the lua api and then try skimming the source code to see if it's worth forking... but at least it's not java

Never heard of it, I took a look and...eh. The idea is good but from what you're saying it needs some serious work. Go for it, make a fork that's even better than Minecraft, not a high bar. Mods look like knockoffs of Minecraft mods so not a great start.

yeah it's definitely a question of starting with a clean slate and hoping my limited knowledge will carry me through the start of a project or trying to work around a, what, 14 year old codebase? If the base "game" and discussion about the lau api wasn't so bad I'd just be doing a simple mod port but I can see why vintage story went the custom engine route

Haven't played for a few months due to lack of time, but when I do I just like to build stuff. Haven't downloaded the latest patch yet, and probably won't until I can update the resource pack that I use. I tend to agree that the updates are coming too often now - though some of the new additions have been really cool.

I like looking through the older pages every now and again, but FUCKING HELL how did I miss THIS?

First time I've heard of heard of this game, Lay of the Land. Looks very promising, especially the building. Made by one dude, haven't looked into it much yet.
I'm never keen on "Space Exploration" mods, they're usually shallow and mostly made to complement other mods rather than have be the center of it (despite what others may tell you). This mod however already stands out far more than the other copy-paste space mods despite being only just an Alpha that you can't normally access in survival. Simply put, the mod is an actual space exploration mod, as in you can launch from "Earth," and (slowly) fly your ship directly to the planet you want to go in real time rather than it be a loading screen.
In other news:
That faggot Shivaxi is at it again with his God awful modpacks where even some of the mod authors were tempted to tell him to remove their mod (iirc) because of how bad it fucked the perspective of modded Minecraft. "If it's not autistically hard I don't want it."

Honestly this feels like the perspective of the majority of mod communities. Literally just artificially making things more difficult by making them more autistic. Even worse when they gain traction and other mods start using them as a dependency. I've seen it in a lot of survival/builder games (MC, Valheim, Terraria, Conan, and fuck Vintage Story is "autistically difficult mod: the game), Starbound's mod community was the worst for me tho. The premier mod has all the autistic "crafting should be realistic" drive of Vintage Story, but the result is just a bunch of torturous grinding ad nauseum.

Oh wow, Starbound. What a trip down memory lane, not always good but it had its moments, shame the modding community is pretty much dead. But yeah I know the feeling, hard for the sake of hard rather than providing an engaging experience that just so happens to be challenging. I could just be autistic but I find that Vintage Story and Terraria don't fall under that category. I can't speak for Valheim nor Conan since I haven't played the former and the latter had too much shit that annoyed me (and retarded devs).
Just fucked up building a guardian farm and need to rebuild from scratch. Feels bad, bros.
So why Guardian specifically? Trying to mass produce lamps?
why can these spergs ever just make a fun mod instead of terrafirmacraft #15
edit: oh god I actually watched the video for the first time and he just made terrafirma + WoW + microtransactions
I hate this trend, I don't know what to call it other than grifting and pandering but I hate it.
