Agreed. And if that's too hard to understand, think of it this way. Microsoft didn't give $2.5 billion to Notch for free. They gave him $2.5 billion because they expected the game would pay for the $2.5 billion they lost many times over. And it did. So Notch was retarded to hand over all the rights just for $2.5 billion.(You could just...copy the reply and edit your post man)
If my company made several hundred million dollars, and we were to continue to maintain and market our golden goose of a product enough that it would probably make even more money next year, and I can practically pay myself whatever I want since I complete own the company, in what universe would this not make me a rich man?
>Astolfo skingais i made a new build!!! its based off that goofy old spongebob statue with the swastika and fire!

Even then he shouldn't have even sold it if it's money he wanted, would've made more than they could ever give him even if it would be slower than a single paycheck. If it wasn't money and he just wanted it off his hands...well I already gave alternatives.Agreed. And if that's too hard to understand, think of it this way. Considering why he sold it Notch was entirely unprepared for being at the head of something so big, and this happened after he stepped down as lead dev which was right after 1.0. He put Minecraft up for sale after facing backlash for Mojang enforcing its EULA and for years after he'd say that he never wanted to make a popular game again, so it seems like he was stressed out and made a bad decision just because he didn't want to deal with any of it anymore.>Astolfo skin
Perfect, peak autism.

He was emotional around the time he sold it due to a bad response to a TOS change he made that stopped servers being able to sell ranks. He wasn't thinking rationally. There's probably a bit more to it than that, but that was what happened around the time he put it up for sale.Even then he shouldn't have even sold it if it's money he wanted, would've made more than they could ever give him even if it would be slower than a single paycheck. Kind of quaint to see that it was Minecraft player backlash that did it. The EULA enforcement that was the last straw for Notch didn't actually put an end to pay to win servers, either.
Hm, I see. I can understand, not everyone can expect to be suddenly be in charge of such a hugely beloved game and then have to deal with the fallout of a bad decision. Definitely could have handled it better, if you can't adapt to a situation then you should get help from people who can.He was emotional around the time he sold it due to a bad response to a TOS change he made that stopped servers being able to sell ranks. there was even a recently release 1.7.10 mod that's an addon for both CustomNPC+ and DBC that allows customNPCs to use Dragon Block C's Auras and Custom Transformations, im having so much fun with it right now!Oh cool, I see CNPC+ is 1.7.10 but is still updated. Dope.
I know, I used it too. I haven't messed with it too much but the potential is sick.there was even a recently release 1.7.10 mod that's an addon for both CustomNPC+ and DBC that allows customNPCs to use Dragon Block C's Auras and Custom Transformations
To be fair, could many-let along an autist like Notch-have predicted this...atrocity at the time? There shouldn't be any number in the world a company can throw at you to let them do this shit with your IP.

You gotta hold onto that shit TIGHT these days.

Movie production started before the Microsoft sale, it took 10 years of development hell to produce what we got. At least 5 nights at Freddy's came out faster, was passable to mid, and had real animatronics and suits. To be fair, could many-let along an autist like Notch-have predicted this...atrocity at the time?
I can't tell if the random 80's setting is a vestigial Notch-style thing or whether it's like how Duke Nukem Forever was packed to the gills with bizarre passe trends when it finally fucking released.Movie production started before the Microsoft sale, it took 10 years of development hell to produce what we got. Random 80's shit is "in" with Gen Z right now, it took a couple years from 2014 when the film was conceptualized to really take off. On the other hand, the 80s is a safe bet whenever you want to evoke retro video games.I can't tell if the random 80's setting is a vestigial Notch-style thing or whether it's like how Duke Nukem Forever was packed to the gills with bizarre passe trends when it finally fucking released.
Can relate, ever since the Space Age dropped I got sucked in after about a year of absence. Now I gotta do another modded run.lack of posts ITT is because Factorio has sucked me in
That game is like crack
Pretty sure Minecraft was making roughly the same amount of revenue (maybe slightly less) under Mojang than "Microjang" until the marketplace came out. If Mojang did a similar idea to the marketplace but without all the IP theft it's not hard to assume it would be doing very well. Even without the marketplace it was making millions, even when the attention on it was falling during that dry spell years ago it was making bank and you'd have to be a fool to think it would just die off, after all Microshit bought it during that dry spell of attention (IIRC) for fucking $2.5 billion! I don't think you realize how much money that is even for a multi-billion dollar company. They knew it would be one of the best investments they'd ever make, and it was. You'd think they'd just throw that much money at someone if they didn't think Notch knew it would probably make billions down the line if they play their cards right? No way of knowing my ass. There was no way of knowing how big it would get
Detail and complexity of what? Structure mods? All Minecraft structures are laughably simple and most are somewhat lazy. The most complex is the Mansion and it's just a bunch of rooms with a few interesting rooms and some hidden chests. I would prefer more small to large ruin structures similar to Vintage Story. Just more structures that make the world feel like its lived in like the Ancient City, Stronghold, and temples.Minecraft really needs an update that brings a lot of the generated structures to the same level of detail and complexity as the rest. The Nether Fortresses are just a collection of fugly bridges and the ‘dungeons’ are laughably basic
