I mean, I get why they’ve done it - compared to “The Good Ol’ Days of Kanto” (sorry, default to Gen 1 whenever I hear Back in My Day related to Pokemon), there’s almost 10x the amount of Pokémon, before factoring in Regional forms changing some Pokemon’s types entirely. After a certain point, keeping tabs on what every Pokemon’s type matchup is becomes a nightmare.I kinda don't like how in the newer vidya, you're told what is super effective, not very effective, no effect, etc. "Back in my day", you had to memorize the type matchups.
This is a series that, at its core, is designed for children - sure, it’s mostly played by autistic adults, but kids today are even more retarded than we were. I can get giving them the training wheels for the Base Single Player game.
Much like the EXP Share though, it’s another one of those things where I wish there was a Setting to toggle it off, but I’m not expecting competence from GameFreak.
