Let's say Branca, the Law of Self Defense was available to come on for Rittenhouse, one of if not thee biggest self-defense trial in the last 100 years at the very least; he might be busy, you could maybe sweeten the pot for his expertise, and this can go for any one else as well. Or maybe, because you're a God Fearing Trad Dad™, after the trial and you've made your hundreds of thousands, you throw $2,000 or whatever, everyone's way as a thank you. You don't need to do a calculated time/payment to figure out what to give them, but someone who might want to pretend they're a moral arbiter, may be inclined to think that giving money for their time is fair.
