It's fucking lossless, so no weird artefacts like with jpg, has alpha like png but isn't a trillion mb big and can even be animated with more than 265 colors unlike gif!

you people have no idea how annoying it is loading a page full of 2mb 3 second 300x300 gifs with the weird dithering. i need to look into animated png too and see how it compares to animated webp images cause it looks really interesting. i've only seen it twice in the wild.

JFIF is just another JPEG spec. the file extension can be either jfif or jpg/jpeg.
