That's how I feel about the whole thing as well. I just can't bring myself to hate Joe anymore after this election. You need to understand that these are deeply unhappy people who can't comprehend the joy of creating and raising a whole new human being and shaping that human being into a noble and virtuous individual who will achieve things and live a prosperous life of their own. They are creatures geared for destroying and ruining the things around them because they themselves can't and find it negative to create. They are evil.
You don't have to have children, but you should acknowledge the beauty of raising one. I'm very involved in the lives of my nephews and nieces and I never felt as achieved in my life as when I helped them study, attended their school shows, taught them various sports and life skills and when I heard them describe me to other people as the best uncle in the world.

The same tactics the Union army used to break the backs of Indian tribes were deployed against their countrymen in Dixie. Scorched earth, salted fields, etc. But as you say, Lincoln was a successful tyrant and the Union army was a successful army. That's why their monuments go unbothered. And I don't think any other outcome was possible. It was a war of centralization, which is the arc of all successful nation-states. It was the end of the 2nd republic and the start of the 3rd. We're arguably on the 4th republic right now (post FDR), but maybe Trump will usher in the 5th.

You may forget after a century and half of centralization, but the USA was originally set up as independent states.
