It's stupid too, every time someone actually demon possessed shows up in the bible they have superhuman attributes (usually incredible strength, because most unclean spirits of the new testament are believed to be the souls of the nephilim who died in the great flood, who themselves were superhumanly strong). Nick is frail as a twig.

He might've been tempted into sin by the devil, but the devil isn't a demon but a tempter and a tester of faith (see his interactions with job or during Jesus' last temptation). The devil just lets the weak destroy themselves, and that is what Nick has always been: weak.

God didn't create a magical class of evil guys just for jollies, that's some dante fanfiction shit. There are just the spirits of the dead and then the devil, who serves as the prosecution against man if you use the metaphor of a celestial court.

I mean demon or not, Nick invited every problem into his life and basically celebrated it. Anytime someone gave him pushback, he’d ask to talk in private. He’d constantly break promises before he got on drugs, but he had the excuse of muh wife and 5 keeeeeds, man.

A demon at most is taking advantage of Nick to increase the already present misery of those around him. He’s not Reagan from The Exorcist being held in torment by a demon, the demon is basically sitting in the corner feeding off the ambient misery. Sucking the life out of everyone involved. I don't know, I thought I "couldn't cook" even though I'd been baking since I was 12, until I was fairly old. I had a few really simple go-tos like simple stir fries, shake and bake pork chops, and so on, but a sort of phobia of cooking. It wasn't until I started watching cooking videos and the like that I realized it was actually not that hard after all.

I'm no Martha Stewart but I can now cook what I like to eat to my own satisfaction and that's all that really matters.

Also, Drexel had a plan to look after the kids is anything happened to Nick. No mention of marriage to Kayla, but that would be against his principles anyways.

Drexel is staying away because he is a coward, especially when it comes to legal entaglements. It's why all his mail goes to his brother (to avoid family court). Otherwise, Drexel would be there "saving" Nick's kids right now as per his promise.

Edit to add: Apparently, Drexel looks at Nick's kids with the same eyes as when he is looking at NCAA Cat (his sexual partner at the time).
