For anyone interested in playing with self hosted email as a service for free, check out hmail. It has an easy GUI and Windows compatibility, since learning Postfix and Linux is a pretty big step up from easy Windows hosting.

I've used it as a mail relay so voicemail recordings could be sent to users email. Quite handy, very powerful.

Cock.li is one of the last remaining e-mail providers where you can just sign up. You don't need a phone number, or a picture of your ID, just - here's your account.
Are they trustworthy? Are they compromised? I don't know. But all the other e-mail providers require your fucking soul.
Even if Cock.li is compromised, they're better than whatever you're using for your porn-browsing or whatever you're trying to hide.

The fact that retard Graf was arguing you should just disobey a court order just proves how insignificant his service was. It's a problem he never had to face. Or he was just lying and complying with the court orders that came in.

I figured I should actually check the PGP signature as noone else referred to having done so, so:
  1. I downloaded Vince's known signature from several years ago from an archive of his personal website: http://web.archive.org/web/20170704234653/https://vc.gg/files/gpg.txt - It matches that on the text copy of the press release
  2. I loaded it into GPG with gpg --import
  3. I split off the public key block from the text copy of the press release, and verified it with gpg --verify - as far as I can tell it seems fine
Anyway, it seems to verify that whoever has posted this message is Vince, so if that has given you concerns about donating you should feel assuaged (or verify yourself).

Meanwhile their hosted customers' domains crank out phish and spam 24x7 and you can't block them or their IPs without blocking 1/4 of the rest of the email out there. Spam filtering apps/services have to build support for their stupid proprietary API to stand a chance of being effective. The centralization and consolidation of power in the email space really is a scourge.

yes you can use already existing chat servers and the message is encrypted so they will not be able to see your message you would not need to host an email server yourself. but i guess it depends on what you want to do.

I'd like to take a moment to thank Vincent for this spectacle as it has lead me to finally clean out my mailboxes, learn about email aliases, subaddresses, forwarding/aliasing services, and last but not least how to set up a custom domain for forwarding mail to whatever mailbox I want to future-proof myself from any similar events in the long run.
Oh, and also after many years of procrastinating finally giving me a reason to completely depart from the GMail ecosystem. :)

My suggestion still stands. https://pissmail.com/ is the closest analog to cock.li, but apparently it's run by a pedo or some shit, so.
There's also the more mainstream proton and tuta which will both sell your infos to the feds just so you know, but if you care about encrypted private connections between emails, they have it, so that's a plus.
Or just use gmail, who cares?
