At least Rick is brutally honest about him being incredibly retarded. He can’t even reach as far as to use applications in Spanish, or even write a basic Spanish sentence, if he studied with Duolingo for 5 years. Five shekels on Fatrick never finished any consecutive streaks or lessons on Duolingo.

He has been to Mexico, the Uk and the Republic of Ireland. All of these trips are documented.

I don’t mean to say this means he understands languages, just that he has been to other countries.

The quote itself is fine and is basically a wordier way of talking about separation of church and state. Herbert, a registered Republican (something which would probably make Patty's head spin if he actually, you know, bothered to read the books he claims he has) is just arguing that religion and government are at odds with one another and are a bad mix. A lot of the themes and metaphors explored in the Dune novels go into this and are critical of both religion and government.

I wouldn't say that Herbert was 'anti' government or religion, but he was critical of it. He was very much against the USSR (although he was critical of his cousin, McCarthy. Yes, that McCarthy.) He understood the importance of religion in people's lives (but cautioned on its over reliance -- something which he also did with government.) Very different from your stock SFWA pederasts who just shit out variations of Orange Man Bad or whatever boogeyman du jour.
