That was just a PR stunt. Airlines already had an obligation to get you to your destination with a cancelled flight. E.g. they’d put you on another flight, compensate for a hotel if necessary, and even pay your ticket for a completely different airline. The new rule, if anything, just creates more problems because airlines can now just refund you and leave you stranded (not sure if they are stupid enough to actually do that).

There's also the matter that Vance wasn't officially confirmed. If Trump had died I don't think Vance would have had an in.

I admit Im not sure if this applied to the beginning of the war but my understanding is that the Ukraine is armed with enough anti air weaponry to make jet attacks an unviable option on territory that isn't secured or assisted by ground forces. The same applies the other way, although the krain doesn't really have enough jets now to make any worthwhile dent In things even if you took away the threat of anti air.

Tanks are good for supporting infantry and going urban, but they can't take on jets, let alone drones. The way drones are being used in the krain has the real possibility of making tanks obsolete in peer to peer military fights if they can't come up with good enough countermeasures.

I don't know about how easy that would be if the drones were deployed by mobile infantry on an individual basis. It disturbs me how everyone underestimates the effect they have on the battlefield. Drones combined with modern artillery has essentially rolled back the idea of a fast mobile war. When both sides have it and are evenly matched it practically resembles WW1 with modern weaponry. People mistake Russias slow pace for weakness when the reality is they had no other choice for success other then a slow grind when surprise and hoping for the best didn't work. The goal now is to use all resources available to kill more of the enemy without directly expanding troops and them move in when there's nothing left to oppose them. Anybody who says Russia went back to suicidal mass wave assaults fell for the propaganda and can't produce the footage.

Absolutely and that's the problem. The Ukrainians use it so much the demand outpaces the supply of literally every fucking military on the west. It seems impossible but we really bought into the idea of a small expensive elite power as opposed to mass produced quantity over quality. Everybody just assumed we'd be fighting poorly armed goat hearders to the end of time and now we don't have the facilities needed to actually produce ammo on mass. The results of cost cutting and moving industry overseas

Unpopular opinion: The Turkey pardon is a stupid-ass tradition that has always annoyed me.

If I were President, I wouldn't pardon a fat turkey. I'd say "You know what? You look like you could feed a lot of people. Off to the nearest homeless shelter you go!"

If I ever see a President do something like this, I would vote for their re-election in a heartbeat. lol.

I would find the Turkey I want..Kneel down..look it into the eyes and say "You are main course in the White House Dinner, be glad for your family will forever be blessed by knowing one of their loved ones fed the most powerful Clown in the world."

This would be incredibly based, don't get me wrong.

However, sending it off to a homeless shelter would be funnier, because the media would not know how to react. If I took the turkey into the White House for myself, the media would spend the whole week crying about it ... But if I sent it to a homeless shelter, they wouldn't be able to slander me and have it stick. lol.
