Is there really anybody who thinks this will be good? I thought the first Pillars was barely passable as a game but it was a worse RPG than previous Obsidian games and had one of the dullest original fantasy settings. Didn't even bother with the sequel because it retconned the ending of the first game to be entirely pointless, besides looking like ass. After Outer Worlds, I wrote the studio off as dead.

The Outer Worlds

I got bad news for you: Not even they like Outer Worlds. It's a game that everybody forgot about within 2 months of launch. I might be it's most vocal supporter, and I only do it ironically because it *does* trigger Bethesda fanboys.
That said, I don't really see anything that this game does so far that is making me really excited to play it, which OW did with it's pre-release material. If anything, I can see a lot of burned Dragon Age fanboys playing it to get their fix after the disaster that is Veilguard. Oh sure, this one is pozzed too, but unless Avowed has top surgical scars and a quest to transition gender(in a setting with magic, mind you) they won't mind.

Honestly Bethesda, for all the glitchy slop it makes (Fallout 76 and Starfield) it's at least honest: You expect slop, you get slop.
Obsidian brands itself as "I'm not like the other game studios UWU" and makes high effort slop that's too short, has little replay value and it does what everyone else has already done.

This alone is why NV fans who bitch and moan about Bethesda and demand it be returned to Obsidian don't understand: The old 2010 Obsidian is dead. If they got the Fallout IP it'd be a single DLC long game with arrogant dialogue (like NV) a broken engine because the devs were too busy writing instead of making the game (like NV) and trying to appease the dickriders by slapping on every trope and recognizable thing that everyone loved in the old games (like NV)
This alone is why I fucking hate both NV and Obsidian fans. At the very least Bethesda TRIED to make something new with 76 (and completely failed). The NV fanbase wants Fallout stuck on the west coast with the same factions, the same locations, the same characters and the same mechanics. Have a Fallout game in Texas. Or Florida. Or Alaska. Or anywhere BUT THE FUCKING DESERT. Appalachia is cool, the capital wasteland is a hellscape, and the commonwealth is at least memorable. What does NV have? Nothing. Its a fucking bland desert. "BUT OBSIDIAN RAN OUT OF TIME-" no Avallone and co spent all their time jerking off to Ulysses and Caeser. THEY chose the 18 month dev period. They are the only ones responsible for NV being a fucking mess on launch. Was what they had a miracle? Yes.
And all the cunts on youtube smuckling about NV and shitting on 3/4 is a sign that something that used to be a neat game has become another god to worship and attack other people over.

I have not met a single person with good tastes who had an "unhinged rant about NV fans", nor one who is a Bethesda fan. No, "I know it's slop but I like it" is not an excuse, just like "Stalker was always full of bugs!" isn't for the newly released Stalker game. There is standards, and if you excuse a game even when you know it doesn't meet them, that invalidates whatever point you might have had.

This right here is probably going to be all Avowed will be good for: Getting all the right people seething over nothing. I said that DA fans who are scorned by their new game might enjoy it, but I didn't mention Bethesda fanboys who will be jealous of Obsidian for releasing a "Skyrim lite", when they had Elder Scrolls blueballs for what 13+ years now? No TES 6 in sight!

I never understood the point of those images. Obsidian has more than 100 employees, so those might be the only women and faggots there and the 90+ everyone else is white/asian programmer, but then why exclude those people as if it's Soviet Russia? It was hardly a game per say, but Pentiment was fantastic. Read through that over the course of two days and had trouble putting it down and I can't recommend it enough.
