Avowed - Obsidian's new game, like Pillars of Eternity meets Elder Scrolls

The guy already explained numerus times he is a die-hard POE fan. He cant be objective and will carry water for the series he loves.
And it is the hardcore Dragon Age fans who hate Veilguard the most.

Different countries have different ethnicities, it's not like they inserted random "incongruous negroes" into what would be realistically a mostly homogenous village.
Tbh, I'm less concerned about its woke status so much as its "looks like shit, plays like shit, world is shit, stories are shit, mechanics are shit, and everyone's a gremlin" status. IMO, woke is a harbinger of all those things but games can still be bad without being woke.
Exactly, a woke studio ethos pushes out the talented and makes people afraid to raise suggestions. Bad games have been released without any wokeness, but woke games are rarely good.
I've heard that the studio that handled the Spacer's Choice fucked up the port.
That is correct, Spacer's Choice is a disgrace.
Was a disgrace, but they released 4 patches and it's now the best choice. My point was Obsidian themselves skimped on bugfixing for both New Vegas and OW.

The original release still runs better even after the updates and it has actual mods you can use alongside it. Outer Worlds was also an anomaly for Obsidian, in a sense that it didn't really have any bugs. You can play from start to finish without finding a single one most playthrus, hell you can play the entire game without crashing once. Very stable game, surprised what they did to it with SC.

As for how they made it worse, oh boy: Lighting is fucked up to the point where some location's original atmosphere is gone and sometimes it breaks entirely, the game is even uglier somehow, the performance is worse and it's tied to the game engine so no matter how good your PC is it won't matter. There is a ton of technical issues there, not to mention that the few mods that were made for the original release don't work for the new one, creating a new slate that has no playerbase to fill it. Spacer's Choice is right, since it's a cheap cash in that oversells what it offers in hopes you don't buy an alternative that's better in every way, just like in-universe Spacer's Choice items. I never paid a penny for the game or it's expansions and I will tell you right now, the original release is well worth the price. Just make sure to avoid Spacer's Choice Edition, not like you can buy the original anymore anyways so don't feel bad for pirating it.
Its not the best choice; its Spacer's Choice!
I look forward to the salt of KCD2 slaughtering everyone involved aside from maybe MHW. Lefties are still angry that KCD1 succeeded despite not adding any niggers to it.
Well, judging by the trailer we're getting at least one Polenigger, who coincidentally refuses to speak a proper civilized tongue and only bix noods at everyone in that nonsense gibberish language of his people despite understanding everyone else just fine.

Bullshit. On release there was an infamous crash bug in the end level where walking into some dude's room for a peaceful persuasion convo would crash 100% of the time, forcing players to chuck a grenade in.

When I saw avowed was in the works years ago, I was hopeful we'd get an Obsidian take on the elder scrolls.
Unfortunately, I Think we're going to get more their version of the outer worlds but "fantasy"
Its going to be fucking abysmal. All my hype died after seeing the trailers they put out of gameplay footage.
MAYBE it'll be like a dark messiah if we're lucky, but I doubt it.

I never got it, and I did indeed play it on release day. I did get one single crash in all my years of playing this game however, it was related to a random patrol outside of Amber Heights. I guess this is why the game largely doesn't have random encounters unless they're hostile creatures. I still don't know what happened there or had any crashes since, I only know that I made peace with Iconoclasts and MSI so I theorize that there was a problem with two different encounters with each faction overlapping in one location, since you saw the two on patrol together once you completed the peace treaty questline.

Still, one or two serious bugs are still a far cry from your average Obsidian game. Just look at the bugs 1.0 release of New Vegas had, they had to basically take people away from making DLCs just to fix all of them(and later, to remove content to ease up memory for said DLCs).

I always hope a game is good unless its made by ubisoft. I won't hold my breath mind you. But I hope it's good. The world looks pretty at least.
It isn't what I wanted. I know that much.
I see things that make me very worried outside of that.
I very much loved Obsidian so I am worried to see their current trajectory. I hope I am wrong.
The Pillars world was good.

I concur in wishing for the game to be good. While PoE games are far from perfect they are actually my favourite series of RPGs in the last 10 years for very subjective reasons, mostly boiling down to being, in many ways, closest thing to Baldur’s Gate 1 (much closer than BG3) which is THE childhood game of mine. If Avowed does well hopefully they go back to this world and given success of BG3 they’ll return to isometric RPG format.
The Pillars world was good.

Hope this game does well enough to secure a future for Pillars at least. I like the world despite PoE2 trying really hard to make me not.
Yeah I really like Eora. I'd actually argue that world building was a detriment to the story of PoE1 as it kind of outshines it. At each step of that game NPCs tell you that the more interesting shit had already happened.

I initially disagreed with this but playing as some sort of assistant to a Godhammer scientist would be pretty neat. Meeting Durance before he became the best character in the setting would be cool too.

Reactions: Jhonson the Two
Is Chris Avellone involved? I wish Obsidian success, but he was integral to their early games.

The initial failure of Deadfire seems to have buck broken Soyer. He's whined that he doesn't understand what players want, so I doubt we'll see him at the helm of another fantasy RPG.

As for Avowed, nothing about it looks good to me. Characters talk like modern Californians (complete with goofy broccoli hair cuts), they've said it's meant to be a short RPG, about 20 - 30 hours, which would be fine but one of the few quests they've shown off is collecting 20 badges from corpses, so I'd wager it's either even shorter than that or there's a ton of shitty time wasting quests in it. Lastly, there was an interview not too long ago where they talked about how enemies won't attack you from behind or gang up on you as if it were a great feature rather than evidence that the enemy AI is awful, and the combat in general just looks like a crappy Skyrim clone.

When I saw the footage of this I lost all remaining faith. Yeah I hate to say it, but when you see black women now a days especially like that, you think, "Shit its woke."

I'm trying to cope that she isn't full on afro designed or half shaved hair she may be actually well written.
But I just have no faith especially as Obsidian is a cali company.
