I'm not read enough into the lore but I do remember right when Season 1 started Sam Hyde sort of had to have a "heart to heart" with his fanbase and that they couldn't run around fedposting in the chat - I can't remember exactly what triggered it, but it was definitely more than people just saying "nigger". I think it may have been CP/gore and there were some Discords that sprung up that were causing problems. I think some of his more spergy/retard fanbase were like "muh freedom of speech" and pointed out that he got kicked off adult swim for hiding swastikas and various things.

I am watching youtube clips now from the usual suspects, just avoiding fatty. He is killing anything from happening, and the show is struggling aside from him as it is. This feels like a total collapse at this point.

Yeah there was this clip but I'm pretty sure there was another clip I think where he was at his desk (in his studio or whatever) and he said something quite similar but it was a bit lengthier. To be honest I'm 100% with him because any time you try and do something fun online you always attract this minority of fucking idiots who take things too far and think posting CP is a joke or swatting is a joke and its turbo mega fucking gay.

Anyway, regardless the way that I read into it - and you can see how vocal he is in that clip alone - is that he's a lot more mindful of the crowd that he attracts and I think also mindful of what kind of content he puts out. And by that I don't think he's been trying to abandon his OG crowd, but just purge it of the worse people.

I don't take it to mean he's becoming le epic mainstream or politically correct because he still does standup where his entire joke was "imagine you wake up.... and you're indian" (the crowd laughed). I just think he's probably realized that if he goes too le epic nazi alt-right shit then he'll never be able to monetize anything and that eventually fucks him over.

Fortunately fishtank is pretty independent from YouTube and mainstream monetization which gives him a lot of freedom, but I can sense with how certain things are done that they are very careful about stuff. Because getting a sizable number of people willing to subscribe for $60 every 6 months is a challenge all by itself and is sort of magic, but if you fuck up payment processor shit it's really hard to recapture that magic. (I'm less familiar with mde.tv though and how they monetize it, but I will check it out now that I think of it)

Having said all of that, given Trump has now been elected there may be some change in the wind where people like Sam Hyde are allowed to be themselves and not have to fucking lobotomize their entire personality just to be able to have a monetized channel on YouTube. But only time will tell. For sure before now it is very risky to try and make a living off of YouTube.

I'm not sure why people keep saying Burt is too degenerate to deserve to win, despite providing infinitely more entertainment and being way more earnest than Binx and Payton combined.
