General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

Bea also responded.
I can't help but feel like some of it is PR speak but aside from what Fauna said we have not much evidence on what's truly going on behind the scenes. For me it feels like Hololive is becoming one of those shitty companies that still have things I like kind of like Games Workshop before going super woke. I'll still watch the other Holos but not support the company directly. Not as bad as Nji yet despite /vt/ already claiming there are cliques out to get Fauna and Njisister behavior from rabid fans on there. But if word of harassment in the company gets out or management makes the EN girls apologize to Palestine wack jobs it'll be clear the company is beyond repair.

Someone is going to figure out the sustainable male vtubing format that works, I just don't think it's happened yet.
Yeah. You just use a vtuber model and don’t do idol stuff.

Honestly though the thing that will make Male Vtubing viable is they need something to pop off to the degree of Holo Myth so that when shit hits the fan they can weather it and not break.

Otherwise it is don’t quit and don’t stop and eventually you’ll be ok.

I feel like one of the strongest things vtubing has going for it is collabs, where you just stack a bunch of avatars on top of each other and it's good. You can't do that with facecams. I say this because it really feels like in most instances, it's more fun to have a bunch of girls together being retards than it is a bunch of dudes. The majority of successful male streamers appear to be solo acts. In that way, the strength I listed above just doesn't apply at all to them. That may be the reason why male vtubers just aren't catching on with anyone but fujos.

If we want to spitball ideas as to what a hypothetical format would be, I'd reckon it'd have to be in 3D rather than 2D, in 'content creator house' style group content of just fucking around being retards. Much like how HoloStars' Altare funded a small mocap studio for him to do 3D content with 'the boys'.

If I have to read any more kvetching about models, toggles, or whatever sharty focus of the week is I'm going to lose it.

On another note, we'll never really know what happens behind-the-scenes at some of these corpos. I personally have a wary attitude towards public corporate entities because of the affect that's had on gaming (I'm sure a lot of people are nervous about, say, Valve going public after Gabe Newell's death) and can totally see some out-of-touch (((shareholder))) want their returns NOW NOW NOW and bug the shit out of leadership to make their personal profit.

I can't respond to me for some reason Burnt, but I can only go off of what I see since I don't follow everybody like I used to anymore given the job.

I understand at least from a business perspective that poor management can vary and even Kiara said that in her stream but the components I've seen from the guys and also the girls over the past couple of years about how bad the management is really do make me raise an eyebrow.

Some of the English girls have acknowledged that there is some major growing pains going on right now with a new direction, and Bae her self is hopeful despite all that's going on.

It really is a case of you have to wait and see what the company really wants to do going forward with this set direction but I'm incredibly iffy and I'm getting game freak vibes

If you really pressed me to try and blindly speculate what there is connecting someone like Ame and Someone like Fauna leaving. My first guess would be "they're both people with responsibilities to pets and family at home and holo expects them to uproot themselves and spend months in Japan twice a year for Holofes and whatever EN concert"

Fauna pretty strongly expressed that she didn't like traveling too much, she did D&D for her birthday stream this year specifically because she wanted nothing to do with traveling back to Japan again to do 3D, so even though yeah she said she liked singing and being an idol, that doesn't mean she was keen on how much Holo/Cover wanted her to travel.
That would be my guess, as well. People greatly underestimate how stressful it can be to travel for work, and that includes people who interview for jobs that require a fair amount of travel. It's one of those things that sounds easy until you've done it for a year or two. Modern air travel has made even just getting to your destination a Kafkaesque nightmare of delays and incompetence, and you'll spend the entire time surrounded by gross assholes with zero consideration for others. You're eating out for every meal, making it harder to eat nutritious meals that aren't super calorie-dense. Garbage in means garbage out, so you start to feel run-down after a while and gain weight. You're living out of hotel rooms or a share house, so you never really feel at home, which leads to a slow but steady buildup of stress and anxiety. Even if you're working someplace with interesting things to do in your downtime, like Tokyo, eventually you just start to yearn for the simple comforts of home in a way that's hard to convey to people who don't travel much for work.

I have a theory that Hololive EN will eventually see a caste system based on Japanese proficiency, if they don't have one already. Talents who are more proficient in Japanese, like Bae or Mori or Kiara, may end up getting preferential treatment from management over those with lower Japanese fluency, like Watson or Fauna or Regis. I have no proof to back this up and fully acknowledge it's just speculation on my part, not even at the level of a rrat yet.

I remembered hearing about Fauna, shit's sad for the fans. Personally I wouldn't go near any Japanese company due to how they make American megacorps look benevolent in how they treat their workers.

About 5 years into vtubing as an industry, I wonder how the market is going. You'd always have whales to keep popular people afloat but eventually people will move on to the next trend.

Some correction was expected because they had a massive rise in the last weeks. Both graduation announcements certainly played a part in it. Also us thumbnails

Have you seen Kai Cenat's 3D model? It's post Myth debut time all over again but now the big male streamers are jumping on the vtuber train

But one thing regarding Fauna: It's totally understandable to quit if a work no longer suits you. But I'm sure that her original contract, although everything was shut down due to covid, had a clause that she had to go to Japan for recording stuff. You can't tell me that she joined them and then was surprised about it when everything turned back to normal.

That calarts is on the snoz so much it could be parody.

Also love the bugman corpo second card: work together and do more tasks!

That is corpo speak for:
-We are making you do two jobs.
-No you are not getting a raise.
-What do you mean endless busywork? It is to make sure we wring all boundless profits, oy vey, I mean we encourage all possible talent for you!

This will lead to burnout, and than the corpo will look up dumbfounded at how much all the mistakes costs.
