Going through old AEW clips on Youtube, I've come across this one again, which is at the same Dynamite where they showed the All In tape, but I haven't had a chance to talk about it here until I found it again.

This promo was what killed any interest I had in Will Ospreay, getting to scream in a promo like a fucking ape because Triple H said certain AEW talent didn't grind enough, he didn't even mention him by name. And I'm certainly sure Ospreay was intoxicated in this promo, because he was sweating profusely, his gaze is lost and he doesn't measure the tone of his voice when he cuts the promo.

Saying the classic insults that Triple H had since forever in the beginning in his career, he didn't say anything new here, just showing that those comments got to him and he had to be there, burning the bridge with WWE while screaming like a banshee, the look on Renee Young's face says it all.

What's the matter, Tony? It's okay for Ospreay to take shots at Triple H like that but when Ricky Starks does it to your father it's worthy of you ruining his career?

Ah yes, what a stupid segment. You can tell Osprey was all in on this as well. But what made this clip more memorable was when a reporter asked a question to Will about this promo. As soon as the question started, you can clearly hear Osprey mutter under his breath, that the mic picked up, "I don't wanna fooken' answer this...". You see Tony was clearly getting ready for Osprey to add on to that promo, only for Osprey to show regret over said promo, and wanting to move on from it swiftly. This is why you don't talk shit about other companies, because it will back fire twice as hard.

I think you just chalk that up to that spot being the 1 in 1,000,000 that ended up being bad. Holland didn't have the proper handle on Big E and E ended up jumping too early. I also don't see Big E as a dude that holds a grudge or looks to give receipts. Plus Ridge apologized afterward and made amends, so that goes a long way. I'd certainly be bitter at my career getting heem'd, but sometimes these things happen.

The idea of doing spots on a piece of foam covering a hard floor always seemed dangerous especially anywhere near the head and neck. Maybe they should try and put some springs under there or try a different material.

thats true, you cant always account for these things, plus Ridge uses the move as a way to get heat and Big E is cool with it, obviously I cannot speak for him but from Big E's perspective it probably helps that he managed to win the big one shortly before retiring, so there was no what-ifs in that particular regard

I'm not surprised that he regrets talking shit about Triple H in this promo, never heard about that interview though. :story: He's gonna live to eat every word he uttered in that promo in the future. This is why burning bridges in such a retarded way isn't a good idea the first time you do it. What a fucking idiot.

Just watched the New Day breakup angle. I really hope something good comes of it, because the segment on its own just might be one of the best done segments in WWE history. Big E especially killed it. The moment where Woods calls him a burden and you can hear the mic falling from Big E's hands was perfect. Their performances hand the audience so engaged, they didn't even need to have the standard "attack the babyface partner for heat" moment usually seen when stables splinter apart. Kofi and Woods got that same level of heat just by shaking hands at the end.

Back to the topic of the Kliq, here's another anti-Smark hot take of mine. I think all the shit about the Kliq holding people down is really overblown. Razor, Shawn, and Diesel got over with the audience on their own. It's not like Sparkplug Holly, Skip, and Adam Bomb were huge threats to them. Those guys weren't really going anywhere, Kliq or no Kliq.

Yeah, and Bret hated the Kliq but was still champion. HBK definitely fucked over Vader and a few others (like Bulldog) if I remember right, but guys like Nash, Hall and 123 Kid weren't politicking anyone.

Working with Brock is a literal kiss of death since he won't put anyone over and has an ego that puts Hulk Hogan and HHH to shame. No way would he feuds with them unless it was to bury them to the point that you can never take either of them, Walter in particular, serious again.

Sad thing is that putting the belt on Orange Cassidy would be an improvement for AEW. He's an over baby-face, clearly took criticism of his character serious and retooled his gimmick over the last couple of years to make himself serious and prove he can wrestle/hang with the big boys, and God knows you coukd get some mileage having Orange getting a decent length reign while sorting out the train wreck that is the undercard.

Not really. He got out before the absolute nadir of Vince's garbage late 10s booking, which allowed him to create the illusion of competency on the indie scene and have the pull to currently shit all over carpet and furniture.

Had he stayed, he'd have been extra buried because Vince and Hunter would be pissy fans were cheering for him over Seth and Roman

Remember when AEW said they weren't going to become TNA? They didn't. They became worse than TNA. Dixie was a complete idiot trust fund baby who didn't know jack shit about wrestling, but she never treated a 5'6" man who puts his hands in his pockets as his personal in-ring avatar, and never jobbed out one of the most popular main event guys to put the belt on someone like that. And she actually took a bump.

His swerve in ECW with the belt throwing was the only cool thing he has ever done. However, a few other names would have done it better. It was a great angle that got him over more than him getting it over or helping it if you know what I mean.

He talked to much, and he kept others down in ECW once he got to the top spot. Which he only got by better guys leaving for WWF or WCW, being one of the top guys by default (fucking Sandman or Sabu where never going to be top guys). He is like the Bret moaner but on crack.

God I fucking hated Shane.

Vader could have gotten over if he maintained his weight but just like Yokozuna and Ahmed he let himself go. And he should have been mature in handling things like with what he did in Kuwait. Or even his fight with Orndorff.

Just goes to show that less is, indeed, more. The moment Kofi put his hand on Big E's chest to hold him back said more and showed more emotion than words could in that moment. The facial expressions from Kofi and Xavier were great throughout and contrasted so well with the shock and dismay from Big E. And the crowd! Just fucking eating out of the palm of their hands and hanging on every word. Promos and segments have gotten such a huge upgrade since Vince left and the crowds are just as much a part of them. Shit like this is what puts talent over both in the arena and on TV. This is definitely segment of the year for me.

I think this has become the most common sense take in recent years regarding the Kliq. For anyone to think that this group of five guys was holding up the main event scene at a time when the fed was at a low point is ludicrous, especially when over half of them got over on their own. I would argue that they found favor in the eyes of McMahon for being leagues above the majority of the talent and thus got more favorable booking. But to imply that these dudes had that much control over who got into the main event space and when? Maybe on Planet Retard, but not in the McMahon WWF. There's no way McMahon would have allowed talent to run the gamut in any way.
