Perhaps we should have a way to separate the surgeons who are good from the surgeons who are sociopaths before letting them operate freely on the public?Med students can talk all they want, most of them will flunk out of those "high paying" specialties the moment residency starts. And that is if they even make it as you have to take into account the US system for residency matching and the rates for hitting those high paying specialties, odds are most of them just won't get to the door for the "big money" specialties.
As for surgeons in particular, it is almost an unofficial requirement that you must be at least a little bit 'off' to pursue a career in the art of cutting people up.
