AI Derangement Syndrome / Anti-AI artists / Pro-AI technocultists / AI "debate" communities - The Natural Retardation in the Artificial Intelligence communities

The chinese released a text-to-video model, and contrary to other video models, it's apparently completely uncensored. They also open-weighted a LLM called QwQ which seems more capable at 32b than o1 to me, working the same way. While the west is pearl clutching, the chinese just establish facts and nobody seems to address it.
Someone has made this with it recently:
I have surprisingly not seen it used in a based manner yet (mainly from 4chan).

lol @ this troon trying to get their channel off the ground with unhinged AI ranting that never manages to get around to an actual point

They're wandering around Reddit advertising their shit and even BreadTube isn't having it.

Yeah my sweetheart started a community called r/ethicallivingvampires and so far it's just us but you can hang!

As much as it's fun to watch fat fetish artist sperging about how AI taking away their "job" or whatever, there's actually one interesting argument that I don't see being made as often in those circles: the way AI is used nowadays is just another example of big tech data theft. I mean, Google has been training their model for YEARS using ReCAPTCHA and Google Photos, or did you think those 15 GB of free storage were out of sheer good will?

that I don't see being made as often in those circles
it's actually one of the most discussed. you just stop at the skim at surface level discussions.
If you were actually looking, you'd also see at the various AIBros lolcows, most of them share the same M.O. from Crypto and tech bros from a while ago. Also fun when they really have no clue how this works, what a infering is, yet they keep yapping that this old-ass tech that has just now gone public is somehow the "future of everything" or something. Yeah, just like 3D Printers. The reality is that the real reason this AI Bubble is being pushed is just so IT-Related merchants can do what they did with the NFT bubble before this, and the Crypto Bubble before it too.
Just look at this thread, it went from discussion to circlejerk in 2 posts.
Not referring to anyone in this thread, nor this forum, but it's a black-box tech and you're supposed to like it just because it allows you to draw pseudo-cp? or because it somehow does something you could've done just as easily before, but now has the "AI" letter beside it, it's great now? Retards have been calling the YouTube's algorithm a bona-fide AI, like it can somehow make decision. The whole discussion around ai, both people Pro and Against it, is fucking retarded. All I know, especially due to people that won't shut the fuck up about it, is that it's redundant at best, and a complete money sink for investors, who are dumb enough to keep throwing money at it. But it also makes them starry eyed, thinking they're always on the cusp of something great. Only to end up like with the NFT fiasco from a couple of years ago.
It's funnier when the AI model turns out to be some 15 Pahjeets in the next room making a show for the investor meeting demo. I cited that Pseudo-CP shit because it's plaguing all discussion channels. The shit you see generated with whatever hellish model you see on matrix channels (and discord servers, but I don't touch that shit) changes a man. All I'm happy for is that people are wisening up against this, since it's yet more slop.

If you wanna see how far the AI Brainrot someone is, just tell them that the AI model that google made has made the search engine bloated and shit.

Many of them don't know, many of them don't care and only use the "theft" argument because it's convenient at the moment. Try bringing up Google Translate and reading through all the excuses they make for what is basically the same thing as any other generative AI, down to the data scraping. "It's so bad that it doesn't compete with translators so it's okay", "it's useful so it's okay", "translation isn't the same as art", "you can't steal a language"... it's my litmus test for whether someone is against AI out of principle or just mad because it can do their job now.

I mean if you willingly post your artwork on websites like DA or art station for years who's TOS say that they can use their artwork for whatever they want I don't have any sympathy.

Same thing as the people complaining about Adobe using its users' artworks for AI training. Like, who the fuck even pays for Adobe nowadays?

Youtube is now adding AI voices to their already machine-learning translated subtitles on videos. Reddit is, naturally, mad because... there might be a mistranslation or will somebody think of all the youtube video dubbing jobs that will be lost
Someone think of the non-english language video essayists! Could you trust AI with telling you what to think instead of mindless drones going for mass appeal of their audience?

Nothing was ever mistranslated before machine learning.

The voice actors who wouldn't have been hired for dubbing things that aren't popular surely are the biggest losers

Think of the accentorinos! & Accessibility Features are actually there to taunt the disabled, right?

Even channels that aren’t content farms use AI voices. Whether or not it’s YouTube itself makes no difference.

The big models are trained just using scraped internet data, rather than data from user accounts. And Google has always been open about the real purpose of reCAPTCHA; anyone who hasn't noticed that during the past 20 years is a retard.

For a very loose, emotionally-driven, not-legally-accepted definition of theft, yes.

The reality is that the real reason this AI Bubble is being pushed is just so IT-Related merchants can do what they did with the NFT bubble before this, and the Crypto Bubble before it too.
This is shallow vibes-based thinking without looking at reality. Unlike NFTs, AI has an active and thriving use case. I wouldn't exactly decry crypto either since it's the only reason you're able to post on this site at all.

If you wanna see how far the AI Brainrot someone is, just tell them that the AI model that google made has made google search shit.
What, are you expecting them to say "no it's not, Google search is so great?" It's shit because of specific bad decisions Google has made unrelated to the tech itself. Ironically it would probably provide better information if it just gave you an answer from the LLM rather than summarizing search results.

I'm not some AI doomer but I can agree with them on the fact that these AI dubs are going to suck ass. Even the best of the best AI voices (openAI/elevenlabs) still don't get inflections right. It's almost certainly gonna be worse with non-English languages, too. Imperfect auto-captioning + imperfect AI voicing = no bueno. Would rather see YouTube put their time into not actively making the app more dogshit than it already is. Wish this bubble would just either pop or stop following the law of diminishing returns already.

I wouldn't expect them to be good. I will, like a normal adult, simply not use this feature instead of acting like it's the end of the world. Reddit constantly manufacturing hysteria is just really funny to me.
As far as the 2nd point goes, lol. LMAO even. I'm trying to think of the last time Youtube did something to actually improve the service.
