They still want to defund the fire department.
It's hilarious that the urbanists no matter what the profession assert that they know better about the needs of the people in that field than the people actually in it.

Remember that time they said F-150s aren't good for construction because "they're too hard to maneuver and back up on a job site due to their size". Meanwhile they ignore that these already exist.

Just watched the original vid this guy made and it wasn't even that bad. Why were people calling him racist for him saying "why the hell can't I find a regular grocery store with meat and cheese or something?"
Because "how dare you criticize the magical negro/spic store! It has culture and folksiness and muh heckin chopped cheeserino!!"

It really was that dumb

Bored and lurking r/fuckcars and remembering why I stopped studying urban planning. These types are so fucking annoying and
Really shows how their 1# objective is to just complain.
this really is just all they do. It takes an extraordinary amount of privilege to sit down and say that the #1 problem with cities like NYC isn't crime, drugs, or even homelessness (a shockingly low number of the transit-soy types give two fucks about housing, surprisingly because they'dve grown up on Staten Island or some other ivory island) but the greatest problem with NYC is actually that the metro isn't unsafe, but that it's not popular enough! And then they spend their careers retweeting whatever the NYC city office puts out as fact
It's just so narrow minded of a field that it's not surprising planning in the US has fallen off a hill. Other countries get places because they focus on actually developing and moving forward instead of bickering about bike lanes all day. Suggest that the problems might at all be anything social and they'll have your head on a spike. They're so deep into neoliberalism it's unbelievable
That whole argument is dumb because streets have to be sized for the largest possible vehicle, not the smallest. Even if they always sent small vehicles for calls like heart attacks, they still need to be able to send a full engine for a large fire.

Imagine burning to death in your dense high rise apartment tower because the fire engine couldn’t fit down your dieted road.
I'm pretty sure the NL and other places just have smaller fire brigade vehicles, but more stations dispersed since they're in cities

Who's gonna tell this person that it's the schizos and the nogs that you have to watch out for? The Trump-lovers they're probably worried either live in the suburbs and/or have a car. Honestly it wouldn't surprise me if their "bipoc" roommate was dealing with racism from nogs or some other sort of mystery meat swarthoids on the subway. Just look at the Daniel Penny mess.

F-150s are so bad for construction I see them at every single construction site by every single construction company. If only they visited r/fuckcars they could see the light and ditch those obviously useless vehicles. Some redditor in his parents' house knows a lot more than the professionals.

You can’t expect someone who lives in a World Class City™ to have actually traveled and seen the parts of the world they look down upon. Everywhere with a population density less than 100,000 people per square mile is a wasteland not worth their time!
New Yorkers are some of the most provincial people out there. Even the rich ones are uncultured and ignorant if they grew up in the city as children. It's ironic that the same people who think they are so worldly think that "little italy" is just as good as actual Italy.
It's because New Yorkers, perhaps excluding Staton Island, don't cook so they have been accustomed to goy slop being good. Even if some wanted to cook, their kitchens are too small for efficient cooking.
Yes, they are largely overgrown children.

If the concept of a 15-minute city sounds like a farm to you, that's because it is. New York is a literal farm for tax cows and welfare hogs, both of which are fed a constant diet of slop, and they want to do the same to the rest of the world.

They can't even make the areas the customers see look nice? Not even a shiny veneer to mask the rot and decay of the stuff behind the scenes?
Well supposedly as of april 2024 they're touting that they want to refurbish that station and spend 100 million dollars but they also haven't even named a single contractor or company that would work on it. I don't know how these people live with this level of service.

In fairness, I would be scared to take public transit in new york too. This is a shining example of what an ACTIVE New york city subway station looks like.

This is another thing I hate with NYC area planners, they're so blindly obedient to Eric Adams they won't entertain any criticism of the MTA like this. When even Russia, who runs their entire country off an economy as big as NY state's, can manage to have stations like this:
you know that 90% of the MTA's funding is lining the pockets of whatever politician is in charge at the time. I truly think that at a deep level they're aware of the grift that's going on and want to join in on it rather than question anything or see the MTA improve, because like all yuppies all they care about is their own and not actually changing things for the better

That IS the nice, shiny veneer.

Anyone who has rode a subway knows that you love to see that, because normally it’s filled with drunks and insane druggies and shit.

Yeah literally no city I've been to in the mainland or outside of north america in asia has had the level of rot and disrepair I've seen in photos of new york

I support the extermination of people who remove their mufflers and then brap around like negros at midnight.

Metro 2033 looks nicer than this. I'd rather deal with the atomic mutant horror creatures.

The whole fire truck scenario is one reason why (unprotected) bike lanes could serve good purpose in urban cities, it could be used as an impromptu fire lane. Urbanists don't like this, there was one video fairly early on of that woman yelling at an ambulance (with a driver) in a bike lane.

/r/fuckcars made a meme that completely misunderstood Moscow's metro stations, it's not triple the budget of New York's, it's because they don't have massive graft within the system (and that's RUSSIA, not the most honest of places), meanwhile like over 50% of MTA gets eaten by "administration costs".

Despite being only the 10th largest metro on earth, new york is by far the most expensive in terms of what they've been building as of late, and the level of speed, quality, and service is pretty much nonexistent compared to ones at a fraction of the cost beijing (#1 largest), shenzhen (#5 largest), etc
