In his video on "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" he says Dr. Frank N Furter is from the galaxy Transexual and the planet Transvestite. No. He's from the planet Transylvania. Or the name of the galaxy is Transylvania and the planet is Transsexual. It's not overly clear and there's more than one source for these things. Regardless of that he's wrong. And he's viewing this from the lens of today's world and not the one that existed when it was written in the 1970's.
Yeah like when analyzing past media, it is important to think about the time they were written at. The thing is, this guy clearly knows that when he discussed 80s slashers movies, but didn't do that same diligence to Rocky Horror.
Also Ranma 1/2 is not about being bi or trans. It's a gender bender comedy with lots of martial arts. It's actually very Japanese. And Velma is written, and acted, by a woman who is quite liberal. She's spoken at the 2024 DNC. She's said she's not a Republican and is confused by how many people think she is.
Ranma 1/2 is kind of tricky especially with some of the minor changes the remake does, it doesn't help that like it or not, Ranma does resonate with trans people, even if that was not the intent. It's like saying Night of the Living Dead intended to show police brutality on black people even when Romero admitted that wasn't his intent. It's a whole death of the author thing where you can interpret something differently, and its cool, but don't put intent where there really isn't.
As for Velma, saw his bit on Velma, and Mindy Kaling did not do much of the writing of Velma to be fair, but he got mad at the show for its attempts at edgy humor. Though it says more on how bad of a show Velma is where it is too woke and too anti-woke at the same time but ultimately just a big pile of shit.
I believe it can be argued Linkara is pretty much what everyone claims Doug is doing with his videos, with the caveat that Linkara is doing those things even worse.
Yeah like Doug admittedly was accused of those things, it was true since his ego was extremely high between when he did the anniversary films to The Wall, so it is fine to trash Doug during that period since it took awhile for him to get humbled.
Linkara on the other hand never was humbled. Since Linkara is still an egotistical narcissist who can't handle negative memes or critiques about him, and tries to make sure that he is always the big man on top. He also desparately tries to control the conversation but he really can't, like he needs to admit he's in the wrong or laugh at himself more.
As for Doug, his content isn't getting as many views as before (doesn't help all the content dumped on the Channel Awesome channel is getting it buried in the algorithm), but man his Disneycember series really just became him talking about any random property that is under the Disney umbrella.
