Warhammer 40k

They could've done it the way it happened to craftworlds. "Here are your new warlock miniatures! They are... taller!" No further explanations given.

I am so fucking tired over this argument REPEATED stop retreading this bullshit already and buy old marines or something. Its not even a kiwi issue I am going insane over seeing this argument repeated over and over and over. Do you just want your opinions reaffirmed constantly or what? They still act like big dumb space marines thats all that matters if that really does not do it for you just play another faction or just replace the helmets you live in a 3D printer era its not hard. See this marine is wearing a beak but is primaris its that easy.

But but.... old thing, good! New thing... bad! Woke, bad! Not-woke, good!

The doomers are just as bad as the tourists tbh. If you hate the new setting theres at least a hundred novels and thousands of firstborn models on Ebay you could buy, no primaris necessary. Hell, there are 3d modelers that have already made Primaris-scale firstborns you could 3d print, not even including bits. Have some optimism. If youre not having fun, and new Warhammer and GW circa 2024 are dead and infected by retards, then fuck off and do something else. No one is forcing you to engage with the current setting.

That being said, how many kits do you fellas suspect we'll get with EC? It took them forever to drop the Nightlords kill team, and we've only got renders from the EC stuff, so its (probably) a long way off. I hope we get a new Slaanesh daemons frontline unit with the release, or Slaaneshi cultists that can be run with demons. Each daemon faction now having their shortbus marines should hopefully push GW to crossover the factions more. Chaos is kind of a mess as it is, especially with the lack of basic models that arent just characters. Bile getting his own detachment would also be cool. Slaaneshi cultists being cross-buildable to glandhounds/New Men would make me V happy.

The only issue I've had with Primaris is that their shoulders are sometimes too big for regular pauldrons when kitbashing. But that's nothing a little jimmy-rigging with a file or an X-Acto knife can't fix. Or if it's vice-versa, and the pauldrons are too big, you can just fill the gaps with Green Stuff or chips of sprue.

But the supposed lore reasons that Primaris are actually heresy of the worst kind is just autism. It reminds me of Fallout fanboys who got all assblasted about T-60 power armor. As far as lore crimes go, it's a nonviolent misdemeanor, especially next to GW's rap sheet.

Minor cosmetic changes happen over an IP's lifetime all the time. It keeps the material fresh. Warhammer is no different, get over it.

It's gotta fucking suck when a sizeable enough amount of your viewerbase thinks you're a tranny that you have to lead with that in your Q&A video.

Meanwhile, Dana Howl can sit there in his cancer wig with his fat man hands, doing his nasally valley girl vocal fry, and somehow manage to fool a not insignificant number of people into thinking he's just a fat, unfortunate looking woman.
Purge the mutant the heretic and xeno filth!

Are the Caiaphas Cain novels worth reading? I like the premise of "what if you had Maxwell Smart as a commissar?", but between MajorKill and Abnett's self-insert John Grammaticus, I've become wary of overt attempts at humor in 40k. The comedy comes from matter-of-factly showing the casual disregard for human life, not "lol so wacky wink-wink!"
Absolutely. They get a bit repetitive, but they're a lot of fun.

Care to share what the assblasting was about? I played only Fallout 1/2/Tactics.
The T-60 power armor on the cover of Fallout 4 was just a sleeker-looking version of the one from Fallout 3, the T-45. A loading screen and the prologue says it was around on the day the bombs fell, and it hadn't been mentioned up until that point.

But lore spergs had to be know-it-alls and say "nuh, uh, acktuchally, it's didn't exist before so hurba blurba retcon durr durr!"

Like, seriously, who gives a shit?

From my perspective, them and Gorillaman's return feel too much like a neat and easy "make shit less grimdark and more optimistic" button.

Just randomly declaring "Oh look Mr Rowboat woke up! and he just pulled a literal million Super Space Marines with fancy and shiny and fashionably high tech looking new guns out his ass to unfuck the Imperium!" feels downright unearned by the general narrative......even if said general narrative had not actually moved forward in any way since 2001. I know they also turbo-fucked the setting in order to balance shit out, but still it just feels off for shit not to be so fucking hopeless and miserable.

Like in all honesty I don't especially dislike the end result, merely that the way of getting there could have been a whole lot better plotted.

To use a Fallout comparison, imagine it was abruptly declared in a tie-in book that the NCR randomly found an army of Liberty Prime robots and had largely conquered the former US and were now mass producing T-100 power armor and pre-war tanks and airplanes and shit in order to fight the Ultra Mutants now invading from Mexico and the Lovecraftian remnants of Bongland now swarming the East Coast. Sure one could argue that in balance shit is still technically bleak but the tone sure has fuckin shifted away from what once defined the series.

Also fuck the Custodes. Super-Super Space marines as an army concept should have never left the drawing board, although frankly the orginal evil was when they made the Grey Knights the original Super Space Marine faction

...I'm actually a bit fond of the Primaris, I want more stories of them being competent and cool but still naive compared to the veterans and more susceptible to Chaos or at least getting their shit pushed in by the more ancient marines. I understand and even feel for the people for hate their guts though.

I'm also fond of the Banana boys but you know what, having this super fuck-off (nearly) unbeatable army of walking WMDs and doing barely dick all with them for large parts of the setting is just turbo retardation. And as @Judge Holden said, not only does Gulliman's return just not feel like its done right, he now suddenly gets these mustard bottle fucks off their ass? They're so cool but whenever they appear I feel a headache coming on.

That's not an accurate comparison at all. Literally half the Imperium has been cut off from the Throne World while Tyranids are coming and Necrons are awakening. Guilliman and Lion returning are probably the only thing that has gone right in the last 10,000 years.

There might be an ever-so-slight ray of hope, but not much has changed in the grand scheme of things. The returned primarchs still have their work cut out for them.

Deploying the Custodes to a warzone wouldn't make sense, either. It'd be like sending the Secret Service to fight ISIS.

I enjoyed David Guymer's Iron Hands series I remember that the Iron Hand Chapter was basically mind controlled by the Adeptus Mechanicus. From creating their historical/holy documents to mind wiping them.

I wish that aspect was explored more instead of Iron Hands being almost corrupted by Slannesh.

Anything by Josh Reynolds for me.

Dan Abnett's Titanicus is great starter novel for Warhammer 40k I think. Politics, Giant robot fights and Admech and Imperium political slapfights. It was a fun novel.

Chris Waight's Vaults of Terra series reintroduces Terra as wretched hive so bad that Dark Elves see it as heaven and an all you can eat free buffet. Also reintroduces, the Talons of the Emperor (Custodes and Sisters of Silence) are back not being as useless lore wise.

I really enjoyed Ben Counter's Grey Knight series and Graham McNeil's Priest of Mars Trilogy.

Most of the Primarch novellas suck unfortunately, only the traitor primarch novellas are any good. Perturabo's is the best book with Angron's a close second.
Currently playing in a Rogue Trader tabletop game and was wondering if there were any instances in the lore of any heresies that combined worshipping the chaos gods and emperor.
Sort of a side plot by the main villain in the first Grey Knights book.

The daemon, Ghargatuloth, created a False Saint Evisser and his Trails to spread it's influence across systems to help bring it back in to the Materium. Ghargatuloth corrupted many different Imperial agencies and people across millennia so it could come back. It was a really good plan and it almost worked.

A lot of it's victims either believed they were fighting against chaos or fighting for it, even then his pawns were fighting each other within the same novel!

Very impressive villain.

I’ve been playing more Rogue Trader, rolling a commissar to see the other side and you know what I just realized?

No fag shit, my gigachad commissar was referred to as “he” when almost every game with a character creator is using “they” and so far the only gay stuff is based retard Jae bats for both teams. Honestly the gayest thing about this game is GW meddling and not allowing Argenta to be a romance, I mean she’s killed more people than any of my player characters combined so to be honest, she should be the main character and the RT be an option for her.

With one glaring exception, even the portraits are based, even the diverse ones.

So did Owlcat actually manage to make a decent game for once?

Warp incursions make me want to call the local commissar a faggot and get mercy killed, crashes get bad after two hours into a play session and you level too fast but with Void Shadows installed, I am enjoying it. The next dlc is gonna give you an arbites companion apparently, which is a shame, I wanted a freeboota mercenary and Orks to fight, playing a commissar, I’ve realized good enemies is hard to find.

I’m just shocked I don’t hate any companions, even the black, drunk psyker chick, cause you can have your loyal pitbull (Argenta) blow her head off at any time.

It’s more stable than Space Marine 2 btw, holy fuck that new mission is bad

Custodes are great cause they are super cheap to make an army with
Yes and no. As long as you're not buying official GW crap or only buying discount boxes they're cheap. If you are throwing money at GW, practically every list worth a shit since they've had their codex has involved a pair of FW caladius grav tanks and sometimes 1-3 venatari squads. The bikes are also only just now actually usable since the start of 10th. It's also wardens and not the regular custodian guard that have been getting the bulk of play for infantry because they actually have their durability still due to their once per battle 4+++ for a phase and they rarely end up in discount boxes as well. Plus needing cheap action monkey units means sisters of silence which has 1 boring kit for everything.

We're coming up on it being 8 fucking years since primaris, people will not get over it. It's been what, 16-17 years now since Matt Ward made players mad with the 5th edition space marine codex and people still haven't gotten over that. Up until the stupid leagues of votan release, there were people still bitching about squats being squatted, and seeing some of those people complain face to face they weren't even alive when GW axed them from the game and that happened in 1998.

But but.... old thing, good! New thing... bad! Woke, bad! Not-woke, good!

It really is a sad case of people just not moving the fuck on when they don't like something anymore. I think Star Wars is mostly trash now, I don't watch or read it anymore. Star Trek? Even worse, and I just don't bother with it. The shit is never going to go back to what it was that got me interested, same with some of these people and 40k. No, it isn't just going to be ww1 in space for eternity. Squatty marines? Gone. Armor facings and glancing shots? Gone. Templates? Gone. And they're not coming back partially because GW and everyone else has moved on, but even for some game mechanics the entire industry has moved on. Even ignoring GW's record setting profits and price increases over the past decade, there are more people playing GW games now than there were 30, 20, or even just 10 years ago including people who simply weren't interested in it 20 years ago but could have bought into it if they wanted to.
Like, seriously, who gives a shit?
Autists

And even then, the tyranids invaded again AFTER rowboat assembled a crusade to go take back the other half of the imperium(and took part of terra's defense forces with him to do it), so the imperial forces are basically stretched thin and fucked. Even in GW's trailer video for 10th he looks like he's about to just be burnt out with the planet icons flipping to red with updates that they've been overrun by bugs.

Meanwhile the lion has been having to deal with his own legion having been fucking retarded for about the past 10,000 years, Cypher and Luther are still fucking about doing who knows what, while he's stuck trying to put together something on the other half of the galaxy so people can at least defend themselves from the constant chaos and xenos BS, then ends up in a physical fight with Angron of all things, and some lesser chaos god is also screwing around now trying to ascend to a higher power, all while not having access for navigators to even see the astronomican so even getting around for anyone but himself(since he has the goofy forest walk thing now) and an entourage is even less reliable than warp travel was before the fall of cadia.

But somehow, this situation is too noble bright with the imperium on a winning streak? Fuck no, the reality is that at least a large portion of the people doing the complaining haven't actually been keeping up with anything beyond the most basic headlines about Guilliman and The Lion being back. Even in the latest books, there's a chaos faction that's managed to re-forge the anathame now.

I have heard nothing bad about either her or Abelard, either in terms of their actual characters or their ability to tear shit up on the combat board.

"Abelard, bring me that Heretic Astartes' balls on a silver platter!"
"At once, My Lord!"
And thus, a Chaos Space Marine was given a chainsword gelding and his testicles delivered to the Rogue Trader on a silver platter.

Those two together are the Garrus to your Shepard, the Dom to your Marcus, there is no reason why they should ever leave your party (heretic exempt) they’re consistently supportive, loyal and utterly destructive in combat. Pasqal too, you can bathe with him, just two bros taking a bath together.

It’s a shame Argenta got messed with by GW interference, you can tell her, Ulfar and that knife-eared whore had rules Owlcat had to abide by, whereas the ones not tied to models have so much more freedom in the writing. The assassin chick by virtue of being dlc made after launch criticism feels like a KOTOR 2 companion and she’s mouldable. Might pair my commissar with her to see how that one turns out.

“The bloodline is in excellent hands.”
