Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

Acolyte and Skeleton Crew offend me personally because I've had the idea of a show about young Jedi going on adventures in my head for years, and then I kinda get that but they split in half and made it too safe.
I had the same idea, but for female Jedi. Then the ST ruins that concept to the point where the idea of a main female Jedi character is met with groans and accusations of being a Mary Sue.

Yeah, but I said EP5. There were already combat droids in The Empire strikes back, which predated most eu material.

While the probe droids weren't frontline troops, but IG looked perfectly combat ready. The comics and that just expanded on it.
Exactly. Both the probe droids and IG-11 showed that a droid can be a fighter. So why not produce them en-masse?

It must have been the dubbed voices that were more intimidating. Upon further review, no, they were goofy, but even more monotone. The B1s in EP1 gave off a very automaton vibe, without much in the way of sentience 3po or HK47 gives off.

But while they had silly antics, TCW really made the poor bastards too dumb to live.
There was a difference in how they were portrayed. TPM and the EU around it portrayed the Battle Droids as cold, unfeeling, to the point where they don't care if they die. TCW B1s do care if they die and run screaming in fear, whereas a TPM B1 will march to its doom, firing its blaster until it can no longer shoot.

this came up in the Worst Christmas Movies thread but it's a weird enough thing to bring up here
First time I've seen any of this pile of shit. I can't believe Harrison Ford isn't totally phoning in the opening.
when you think about it it's downright creepy how much Ford seems to give a fuck about acting in Holiday Special compared to about 70% of his career

Those EP1 B1 droids were not the lower budget war expedient models as seen in EP2 and EP3.

Anyway, droidekas are the best droids and B1s are the most useless shit ever.
Droidekas, like other higher end droids, suffered from the problems of being too expensive in $$$, materials, manhours and too time-consuming in manufacturing to ever be put in larger production.

B1s due to being so utterly cheap and hilariously/horribly fast to make, you could have thousands of them in the time it take to birthed, grow and train one generic clone trooper.

Also it was their job to be as expendable as possible since they're meant to overwhelm the opposing forces which sheer numbers to the point that they surrender. Basically like Kuriboh in Yu-Gi-Oh as fast as you try getting rid of them they come back even faster.

Would disagree as they're meant to still be useful albeit made inexpensively as possible. Whether as basic infantry, meat shields for better units, heavy weapon gunners, vehicles operators, bitch detail i.e. tard wrangling prisoners and etc. Moreso when the Republic is doing the exact same thing except by using a somewhat slower method with the clone troopers.

Where expendable sheer numbers is an advantage is against an opponent who simply unable to either effectively increase their numbers and/or incapable of replacing their losses. Biggest ur example being the Arachnids against the Terran Federation in Starship Troopers. Since service is completely and entirely volunteer only, the Terran Federation never did fully replace their losses from the Battle of Klendathu due to not enough volunteers enlisting and making it through training without washing out.

I don't know. By the end of the movie they're taking early adolescents in the military. I'm willing to bet standards get lessened somewhat in the Mobile Infantry just so they have more warm bodies they can throw in a meat grinder at the Bugs if they're at the point kids are in uniform and toting a rifle.

The new Skeleton Crew episode was BAD. It was just them jerking off the blue elephant for being a cuck and how being a cowardly cuck is good and how you don't need to fight. I hate it. He's OBVIOUSLY supposed to represent white people so it's Disney (and the Daniels, who surprise surprise are Asian and made the white hating Everything Everywhere All at Once) telling us that the only good white person is a coward. The only other white person in the show, the chick, also has a breakdown because she can't handle being in charge and can't handle the pressure because she's white and the mutt is a better choice for leader because he's a nigger.

I was referring to the book version, as Rico specifically mentioned it towards the end of the book after the boss bug was captured. It's something to spot check those who haven't read the book from those who did.

Skeleton Crew is painfully cautious and lazy with its trope usage, and this summary is a good example of that. Hell I can even state you don't need to watch this shit at all to predict this if you're familiar with how an 80s "coming of age" story goes. The kids all match the basic stereotype to a T, and painfully so.
  • Black Kid was always going to be the leader, and not just for DIE reasons. It is blatant that he's the dreamer who doesn't want to grow up; this makes him the protagonist and leader by default if you've watched anything like this before.
  • Trunklad isn't representing whitey; he's representing the fat/retarded kid. The fat/retarded kid is there for comic relief and due to being partially the load/partially the scaredy cat. He's filled that role perfectly.
  • Asian cyborg is the techie, who usually is asian or nerdy. Their role is self explanatory.
  • Girl is the rebel; the "fuck you mom and dad" character that often is a big softy inside. That's why she cried like a bitch and the dreamer took over.
That's the thing; it's not purely DEI posting, especially since I've seen the kid actors perform. They're competent, which is curved to good due to the death of entertainment in the west.

It's that this is so by the numbers you can predict almost everything that'll happen if you've ever seen any 1980s "kids growing up" story or Treasure Island. There is absolutely no risk taking, and it's brutally guilty of stealing from other stories, particularly Treasure Island. The only twist is the High Republic Planet being the macguffin rather than the macguffin saving their shitty suburbs.

Say what you will about the Fagolyte but at least it was entertaining in the same way a Neil Breen movie is with its absurdity. Skeleton Crew is boring and not even worth making fun of. The whole mystery of The Great Work is going to be lame since it's based on the gay High Republic shit that no one read. What do you guys think will be the cameo they throw in the show? Mandalorian, that Asian X-Wing pilot that's in everything, or Bo Katan?

I've read the book (although it has been some time since I read it last) but Rico's father was MI by the end of it, and it the training is hard enough that there is a high washout rate (to say nothing of those who quit for other reasons) then they are likely lowering standards if a middle aged man can get through it. Militaries routinely lower standards once real shooting start and they need bodies to fill the ranks.

Isn't that current year heresy or something? Or do those people wait until she starts breaking concrete blocks in half?
they already have a brown character being the leader, can't have another one being the super-smart kid scientist. india is both not oppressed enough and two darkies might confuse viewers.

She's a girl and disabled from the brain mutilation procedure, so it's okay.
Ngl it's really fucking funny to me that the child of the lesbians had the mutilation surgery. They're so close to being aware of why fags shouldn't have kids, but they push it as empowerment. If it weren't for the fact that the lead is an inhuman mutt (he pisses me off so fucking much every time he's on screen I want to strangle him to death), I'd almost think the writers are secretly based.
