I haven't yet watched the new one (waiting until Christmas Eve to suffer through it), but I did rewatch the Glitch Gremlin episode recently and it blows this shit out of the water. And I found it a painfully mediocre episode when it aired too, but it's funnier than pretty much anything he's done since 2016. We were SPOILED for great Nerd content back then.

A year or so ago someone posted a few AVGN AI reviews, including one of some weird C64 or some other old horror game, and it absolutely demolishes Screenwave's garbage in terms of content. It used AI voice and stock footage from some of his older reviews. If I were Screenwave, I'd be both pissed and scared that a bunch of random fans can make better AVGN episodes than they can.

My guess is that it's Silverman and they're most likely afraid of ai because it can be used to edit now. There's some Youtube vlog channels that use it. It's only a matter of time before editing jobs (which is Silverman and Screen Wave's bread and butter) go away or become severely limited.

They have nothing to worry about with James discovering this because ai is magic to him.

James and Mike Mondays was the best thing to come out of Cinemassacre besides Board James, at least Mike streams regularly and he's still an entertaining host.

I like James and Mike Monday's but in many of the episodes James is just checked out while Mike is carrying the episode so I would rank Monster madness before James outsourced the work higher. When he is talking about something he's passionate about he is at his best.

IIRC some of the guys from Hack the Movies/Screenwave interact pretty openly with Dick Masterson so they can't be too far-left since interacting with him would be a death sentence in "progressive" circles. Your opinion on Dick notwithstanding, he isn't very popular with them.

I don't think James himself is likely to have any strong political opinions, he's the type of guy I'd expect to just pay zero attention to it or take on whatever opinions his wife has on the subject. Honestly agree at this point that he doesn't need to shave his head, we've gone from "just shave it bro you'll be more confident" to "yeah I'm going bald but I'm not going to do anything about it" where the latter is actually the more confident mode to be in. James saying that modern games are perfect and bug-free is the most out of touch/boomer thing he has ever said in AVGN, there's plenty of modern broken games that they could have used, even from this year alone, i thought they were going in that direction when they first mentioned THPS5, even with the Vice City part they could have used the 1.0 version of the Definitive Edition instead.

I know James doesn't care about modern gaming, but is there no one working with him that knows even a bit more about modern games?

James really took himself back into the past and got stuck in it and now he has massive misconceptions about modern gaming.

He could've researched numerous games that had bugs even to this day such as Lord of the Rings: Gollum. That game was a massive glitchfest that somehow managed to be worse than The Rings of Power franchise.

It seems to be a coincidence that any modern game review by AVGN is very much guaranteed to be weak.
