The CCP, which wants Chinese people to only drive Chinese cars, realized that they could make batteries and electric motors and ordered their car companies to make EVs, but they don’t care about the drivetrain as long as it’s made in China by a Chinese company.

Tesla (and all Western automakers) face a real risk of being banned from China and pure EVs will struggle to sell against EREVs because of their limited range.
