Yes, body language analysis can sometimes be bullshit. That being said, when done by a qualified person who knows what to look for, it's a powerful tool that can betray the real emotions of even the most concerted, rehearsed people. You can do lines over and over, you can get the inflection right, but it takes a master to fake body language.

What you're referring to is people who upload videos of themselves dressed in suits, pushing pseudoscience when they ‘analyze’ things like Biden's performance at the debate earlier this year (very narrow example, I know, but I don't regularly watch those videos). They aren't accredited or qualified in the field. An actual kinesicist – at a minimum – has a background in anthropology and psychology: those are the sciences that built the foundation for kinesics. It's a recognized science with a substantial amount of peer-reviewed work.
