As for body language analysis, most intelligent, well-adjusted people have a nose for bullshit. Our millennia old cerebral software picks up on the micro-expressions and registers the behaviours patterns of our fellow apes so we don't have to do any studying. The fact is, the truthful behave differently to the untruthful; the europhic to the regretful; the confident to unconfident and so on. Therefore, body language IS something that can be studied as a science.
Of course, youtube is full of hacks who don't know what they're talking about but, to be honest, I think a lot of people just don't understand how to apply what the study of body language has taught us. For example, we can't say that adding lots of irrelevant details to an account means that person is lying but we can say that it's more commonly seen in people who are lying, and that is significant and should be taken into consideration when making a judgement. It's a matter of weighing up likelihoods.
Considering how many otherwise intelligent people will hit you with, "Err you do know there are black scientists, don't you?", or, "I know a girl who can bench 120kg actually", should give you some idea as to why people are so poor at applying this kind of stuff.
