Half Life Alyx was awful with its only upside being cool tech but used in an awful way (super boring repetitive dog shit is not fun). Story involving retconning things from when the story was good and putting in some pure Reddit character to make shitty jokes in your ear all game was also awful. I don't know why anyone has expectations after everyone good left Valve.

I've been wanting to play that forever. I may now that I have a better computer and VR headset now.

It's impossible to know if the retcon will be good until we see it play out.

They just went on in halflife 1 and made stuff up without much thought. When HL2 came out they tried to bind the package together. But they did the same mistakes as lost and X-files. Although not on the same level.

They have written themselves into a corner, and at a minimum they have to retcon stuff.
 
All that Valve has to do to make sure HLX won't be complete and utter shit is to keep Mr. Soytits McFlubface over here as far away from the writing process as possible.

All they need is Wolfpaw and Faliszek, and they'll probably bring Laidlaw back as well given how he's still on good terms with the company as seen in the HL2 documentary. Getting Steve Jaros involved wouldn't be too bad as well, given how great Saints Row and Saints Row 2 were. Speaking of:

Seriously, Saints Row 2 was the absolute peak of the series and arguably one of the best video games of all time, it's mandatory playing, even if it's bugged to shit on PC. Once you experience it your hatred for Volition, and especially for what they did to Mike Watson, will be much, much deeper.

To be honest, that one Dota 2 international video gave me those kinda vibes too, it was pretty sad. I hope it was just a coincidence but he looked really slim and the whole all-white thing was spooky. I hope Gaben lives forever because I dread what will happen to Steam once he's not around to monitor it. (:_(

If Nightdive ever releases the enhanced edition of System Shock 2, that's also supposed to have a VR port, too. There's a decent few VR mods for retro games like Quake and even HL1 that are really fun but I still think Alyx is the best VR game we'll see for a long-ass time. Really glad I got the chance to play it.

the mod for the black-ops expansion is getting some love in the new year.
forgot to also add that a dreamcast prototype for halflife was also found, even marphyblack came back to youtube to cover its release, predates the final build for blue shift by 7-9 months iirc.
this is now 1 of the earliest prototypes we have of the HL1 port to dreamcast as of right now.
