Imo - the cost entry for a french press is so low (they're like 30 bucks) - that it's probably at least worth trying and ruling out before you go crazy buying something more expensive.

I once brewed a cup of (instant) coffee with that exact French press from Amazon. It tasted like I had already put sugar and creamer in it, just absolutely incredible. I've never been able to do it again, and every outcome is rancid and bitter without cream and sugar and I hate my past self for not writing down the ratios.

@Slav Power if you were right how does Anyone start smoking? Nicotine is an addictive stimulant and it does addictive stimulant things, it has positive and negative elements.

I haven't smoked since 2019 and I can't agree with basically anything you said other than cigarettes are stinky and it's degenerate to smoke in your house. Nobody is saying cigarettes are or ever were good for you, but to act like all nicotine is cigarettes and all cigarettes are exactly the same is silly.

I will no longer stream on Odysee. Odysee's performance is so poor that I cannot justify it. There is an ongoing issue where I cannot easily unlock LBRY tokens to reserve new videos with, and aside from the UI just being difficult to navigate for this purpose, it flat out crashes the tab when I try to do anything. It had a small-but-dedicated group of users on it so I'm sorry.
By the way, did you ever get your problems with Stripe and Gumroad sorted out or are they just ghosting you?

Have you also considered that crowdfunding platform I recommended, Boketo?

If you smoke your skin looks shit. Dry, pale, anemic. If you want to run a charity and save the internet you can't be a smoker. It goes hand and hand with obesity. Pretty privilege.

Smoke em if you got em, but the job of being the biggest nigger on the internet requires that you be in excellent health. Make America healthy again. Not to mention an expensive habit.

While I prefer my coffee Beastie Boys style, I usually have it black. I'll throw some extra spice into every brew to make it sort of palatable. It's probably been mentioned before, but just a little salt makes a huge difference with the bitterness.
  • as lightly roasted a coffee as possible, self-ground)
  • ginger
  • cinnamon
  • turmeric
  • black pepper (a small amount will help your body absorb the turmeric better)
  • table salt (YMMV, I put one pinch in a 0.5L serving)
  • cayenne or maybe red pepper flakes if you're feeling saucy
Brew hot to feel your chest hair grow in realtime, or brew cold to vibrate through the walls all morning.
A pinch of ground cardamom is really good in coffee, and worth trying if you've never done so.

Exactly. There's a reason nicotine is so common in the military. It increases focus and attentiveness, lowers stress, deals with boredom, allows for more sociability, etc. No smoker will ever tell you its without downsides or that its actually healthy, but some non-smokers will act like its got zero positive effects whatsoever.

"I see you have a terminal case of being racist, anti-Semetic, and bitter. What's up with that?"

"But there is nothing I can do, nothing at all. Have you consulted your local Walgreens?"

Fat Niggas discover eating in moderation, Hemorrhage weight because their base metabolism is that of a squealing rage hog, and immediately become experts in the hidden art of shit your ancestors had to actively try not to do always at all times by accident.

If you'd actually had to hard budget (Psst... mine is 1800 a day) you'd know 450 calories a day is literally the "bread that makes you fat" meme. Like if you aren't losing weight, that's literally it.

Like Nigga that is two krispy kreme doughnuts and a glass of whole milk. That is my breakfast tomorrow. Why are fat niggas like this?
I used to be fat throughout my childhood due to taking meds for severe OCD I ended up developing. Before that I was thin like a stick, but afterwards I peaked at 105kg and a BMI of 32.4. In 2021 I went to a different psychiatrist that started gradually prescribing me smaller and smaller doses until I was med free by 2022. My OCD didn't worsen, but also my appetite has decreased significantly, and I started to eat less. Within six months I lost 30kg and now I stand at 73kg and a BMI of 22.5.

You wanna know why Ozempic is such a miracle weight loss drug? It makes you nauseous at the thought of food, kills your appetite, so you eat less. That's all there is to weight loss, just eat less. That's it. With time your stomach will naturally shrink, your daily cravings will decrease, and you won't have a need to eat as much.

However, if I were to give advice on weight loss, which obviously isn't directed to Null since he has me on ignore, I'd recommend not doing any calorie counting or strict dieting. Just start taking photos of everything you eat throughout the day. Before you put something in your mouth, take a photo first. After a week, sort these photos by the day they were taken. Then by the end of every week, review them, notice any patterns of what you eat daily, and if you can let go of eating something, or eat smaller portions of it, do. If you can make a simple change in what you cook, do. Then take those food pics for the next week and do the same Sunday summary, rinse and repeat.

All you need to do to lose weight is to eat less. Calorie counting and strict dieting does that, but it takes too much effort, which is why people fail them. But taking photos of what you eat daily takes zero effort, and it becomes a powerful tool in your weight loss journey. You can see how much you're eating, and you can make a much easier decision on how to eat less. You're not aiming for nutrition or calorie count, you're aiming for seeing less food in those daily photos. Since you won't be making it hard for yourself to eat less now, you'll soon start seeing less food in those photos, and it'll signal to you that you are making progress without making a sacrifice, it'll create a positive feedback loop and you'll cut down your calorie intake, and by extent lose weight with zero effort.

how does Anyone start smoking?
That's a very good question, why does anyone smoke in the first place? What benefit does it bring to their lives? Or perhaps there is not, it's all been constructed, and if people suddenly stopped smoking, they'd be able to socialize and destress completely fine without them, because the value of the cigarette is only the one they've conjured in their mind?

But why do they do it? Because it's "cool". Because it's "social". Because all the cool movie stars do it. Because if everyone else does it, then surely there's something valuable in it for me to try. Completely made up reasoning for locking yourself in an addiction that only serves to ruin you. Addictions are always a result of psychology, and are sustained because of it. Every reason an addict will give for why they use is nonsensical when deconstructed.
Riiiight...

-You know what also increases focus and attentiveness? Caffeine, a much healthier substance addiction than nicotine, with less severe side effects. Just look at modern military rations, you no longer see cigarettes in them, but you do see caffeine supplements. There is a very good reason for that change.
-Tons of people don't rely on substances to relive boredom, be it by meditating, exercising, playing cards, reading a book, keeping their mind busy some other way. Is substance abuse the only way you can deal with boredom? Why do you believe nicotine is necessary for you to relieve boredom? Are you incapable of relieving it any other way?
-How exactly do cigarettes make you more sociable? Ask yourself. Are they necessary for social interactions? What is their benefit to them? Is it an actual benefit or if you've taken cigarettes away from social interactions, nothing would really change in how you interact with people?

Read Allen Carr's "Easy Way To Stop Smoking" and The Freedom Model. Even if you're not a smoker or if you don't want to commit to ditching your addiction for good just yet.

On the topic of caffeine and coffee. If you want a perfect black coffee with no effort for caffeine, look for alternative caffeine sources, like caffeine pills.

To briefly describe my journey with coffee. I first got a moka pot to get a nice cup without any grounds. Then I decided to get better coffee, which led me to whole bean specialty coffee, roasted on order. I used a blade grinder like the one mentioned in the thread. That bladed coffee grinder is crap, only good for mincing herbs. It grinds the coffee too unevenly and that leads to problems with the moka pot, as well as every other brewing method. I then got a ceramic burr manual grinder, that was crap and it broke. Then I got a steel burr manual grinder from Aliexpress. Then I decided to buy an Aeropress. That led me to the road of discovering the proper world of specialty coffee through James Hoffmann. Now I realized that I need to match the water temperature, coffee/water ratio, grind size, brew time and so on. I could never dial it in. I got a thermometer to get the right temperature. Then I got a coffee scale with 0.1g accuracy. Then I got a better steel burr manual grinder on sale. Now I'm thinking about getting a temperature control kettle and a good quality french press. All so that I have proper control over every aspect of the process so I can dial it in and get a good cup every time.

In short, to make a good cup of coffee that will taste great without milk and sugar, you will need:
-good quality coffee beans, freshly roasted, grinded before brewing
-the right grind size and uniformity, the quality of the grinder matters
-the right water temperature depending on the roast level of your coffee
-the right water/coffee ratio, which will involve weighing both before brewing
-the right brewing method and brewing time for repeatable, desired results

Not to mention trial and error until you get to your desired point. Assuming that you're going for a french press, you have a fancy electric metal burr grinder and a temperature controlled kettle, your daily ritual will still involve remembering the ratio, weighing everything out, and most importantly, having to rely on multiple gizmos in the process. Coffee makers are meant to be a one-size-fits-all solution to it, but YMMV, and either way you're getting a bulky and expensive device for your kitchen.

If you truly do not want the hassle of getting your caffeine kick and you hate how coffee tastes without sugar and milk, go for caffeine pills. Good black coffee takes time, effort and money. Caffeine pills are cheap and feed your caffeine addiction just fine.

Being overweight is a health issue. You're just betting on not having a stroke before LFJ's eyes fail, Greer dies choking on his lips, or Vordrak gets dementia.
Stop being intentionally dense, you know what he means. That he doesn't have any acute or chronic issues. No one is advocating that being over weight is positive to health and doesn't cause your health to more rapidly/likely decline.

Lots of good info @Slav Power

French press is the simplest, most convenient and cheapest way to make an excellent cup of coffee imo.

The simplest way to make consistently a smooth black French press coffee that Ive found is:

- 8-10g per 8oz water coarse ground coffee (light/medium roast)

- 3-4 minutes

It's not very difficult. I also have a method of making iced coffee that is like a Japanese iced coffee but adapted to be brewed in a French press. It's super delicious and enjoyable black, plus it gives me that caffeine hit like nothing I've ever had. Simply follow the method I've written above, but half the amount of water and measure the other half as ice cubes. Then pour the hot coffee over your ice and serve.

Also, I forgot to add the most important thing. No pre-ground coffee, ever. Not only is it disgusting because there are literal insects ground in it (yes I am serious, look it up) but it will never taste as good as it being ground yourself or by your store on the spot. Always store in a air tight jar (no plastic lids, they don't work).
