Civvie 11 - Retro FPS Boomer

Cancer mouse was supposed to be a parody of the right? But I remember him talking about the plight of the indigenous people, etc. I got the impression he was just supposed to be a funny character that's really tone deaf.

That's nice, but I don't understand why that would be a concern.
It was always pretty easy to tell he at least leaned left, and I've always been worried that he'll eventually snap, but up to this point he's done a pretty good job compartmentalizing. He doesn't express serious political hostility or act like if you're conservative he hopes you're miserable and choke to death.

Granted, this is somewhat on creators too because because nobody needs to hear your opinions monkey, but I really can't understand people who ruin stuff for themselves by interfacing with people on other platforms. If they have enough respect to keep their opinions out of their product, I don't see a reason to go digging.
It's a concern because of regardless of how small your personal interaction with any "creator" is you are inextricably adding to their influence by watching them. Adding your views to their tally increases their apparent popularity (their viewcounts) and because humans are tribal in nature this apparent popularity often translates to actual popularity i.e. "I see big number. Big number must mean channel good because why would many watch if not good? Now I add myself to big number and influence others to add to big number too!". Also, because kids specifically are retarded little sponges who become easily fixated upon their heroes even if said individual does not explicitly proclaim their political or personal beliefs in their videos they are often still very vocal about them on other platforms, platforms which are very often linked in the descriptions of their videos where the aforementioned retarded sponges can easily find them and are likely seek out further interaction with the creator through them and thus are more likely to be influenced by their politics and ideologies. So not only are you enriching the creator themselves by watching their content, you are also adding to their influence any time you watch them through legitimate channels. If the creator in questions holds moral or political views in opposition to your own you are directly acting against your own interests by positively interacting with them. There is no sensible reason for this, especially in a world where there are likely to be many other options for consuming similar content without directly harming your own interests.

Cancer mouse is a very childish way to take swipes at /pol/ while civvie browses /vg/ for more games to cover. If you can suggest channels other than his doing retro FPS content it would be helpful for people wanting to avoid promoting that behaviour. I don't know of any good retro gaming channels that don't involve cross dressing, pride flags or virtue signalling.

I know im late, but his half life 2 video was just outright mean spirited and grinchy as fuck for a chirstmas holiday video released in December. His replacing of the HL2 soundtrack with some faggy "garden of love" bullshit just seems to be him pushing for controversy attention. When he'd never do that for the leftist golden childs "castlevania" and "super metroid". He couldnt stop creaming himself during the symphony of the night video back in october. So I unsubscribed and will never watch another civvie video ever again.

Half life 2 deserves the same kind of respect he gave the original half life. Hell he even treated Unreal 2 with more respect than this. Its bullshit.

Accursed Farms, specifically his "Ross's Game Dungeon" series if you somehow have never heard of Ross. Easily my favorite gaming channel on YouTube but he uploads new episodes of the Game Dungeon like 5 times a year at most. Still, very good and rewatchable videos. He doesn't just cover retro games though and he doesn't really cover very many shooters.

He's not a retro channel and he's not an FPS channel. Why would you recommend him to someone looking for retro FPS channels?

MrEdders123 is a good one, though he mainly focuses on classic RPGs or point and clicks. I don't even like CRPGs and his videos are still entertaining.

I'm still watching them but haven't seen any pozzed content yet, but Nostalgia Goggles is doing an interesting playthrough of all PS1 games and ranking them in a podcast style. They've been fun background noise so far.

He just seems to be overly analytical of older game critic reviews instead of focusing on the actual game and development process, which he also does thoroughly get to in every video. Since game journos have never been a reliable way to gauge the general reception of games.

Not sure where else to post this, but I found thris comment thread in the video where Civvie was rightfully criticizing the then upcoming Slipgate Ironworks games.

There's tons of this kind of shit on pretty much all of his videos, pick a developer, pick a game, there's some perceived anti-troon slight somewhere that everyone must not only acknowledge, but then join in on the attempt to make a struggle session out of it. So fucking gay.

What makes the combat good is the level design and enemy placement. Enemies will flank you and be generally unpredictable. The combat is about moving and trying to get the upper hand on combatants. If you stand your ground or try to peak around corners you will get fucked at the mid and especially high difficulty levels.

I beat it on the hardest difficulty and I found myself replaying sections over and over to figure out this sort of combat puzzle.
Update RE: Selaco. The dev kept crying on Twitter that the A.I. is fair (which it is IMHO) but later caved and greatly reduced the A.I. difficulty in the latest release. It's still good but a lot of the challenge was removed and there was zero reason to do this if the player chooses the hardest possible difficulty setting.

The dev tries to upsell the fact that you can revert back to a previous version. In which case I'll stick to the original build I pirated and let the modders fix it when it's done.

Selaco is such a generic retro FPS. I don't see how anyone can build a franchise or a fanbase around it.
Oh btw, apparently there is cameos of GManShills in there, I bet there is other youtubers as well.
I can only say again that I really liked it. Or at least the original version. It's like Fear combat in GZDoom minus bullet time.

Kind of a punch in the face towards his fans that requested a HL2 video for years. When he finally gets to do it, he acts oddly very passive aggressive with it.
I haven't watched Civvie for a long while and one of the reasons being is this. He hates it when people ask for him to cover games, I don't know what it is or why it makes him so angry that people want to get his input on shit and he gets really shitty and aggressive about it and I wouldn't doubt that's why his HL2 video feels like that. It comes off as insulting to people who like his videos.
