Starfield - Bethesda's new space IP: will probably be full of fun and easily trackable bugs

How do you think Starfield will turn out?

There's a steam sale going on, and Starfield is on sale for $41.99, which is about $12 more than I think it's worth, but my morbid curiosity is getting the better of me, and I'm thinking of buying it. Do any of you think this game is worth the price, or do you think I should wait?

Also I'm curious if there's any good optimization / FPS fix mods available, because I'm still rocking an RX580, and I'm not buying a new video card to play this fuckin' slop!
I think you should value your money more.

the worst part about this game is the loading screens, its by no means a deal-breaker to me personally, but it breaks up gameplay to a point where its like I go do a radiant quest to kill a pirate leader and then decide to continue playing the MQ but its in an whole other star system so it feels too segmented, Bethesda should strongly consider switching their engine for future titles if GameBryo cant handle shit

They forked Gamebryo two decades ago and they've been running their own bastardized version of it (which they've called "Creation Engine") ever since. Gamebryo itself hasn't been under steady development in recent years but a major new release (4.0) launched in 2012 (well after Bethesda's Fallout 3 and Obsidian's FO:NV); it's a fair assumption that Bethesda didn't keep getting updates from the Gamebryo devs, and both products went their own separate ways after the fork.

Gamebryo has been used for a pretty broad variety of games (I was surprised to learn Rockstar built Bully with it) and, like any other tool, can do a lot of neat stuff if you know how to use it properly. I can't opine with authority on whether it could have done Starfield better in someone else's hands, but I suspect it could.

Having butchered and twisted and ground Creation Engine into the fine paste it is today, I can't imagine Bethesda ever taking that old dog out back behind the barn for the Ol' Yeller treatment. They don't have the technical expertise anymore to work with what they have, much less improve it. There's no talent left there to sustain a switch to Unreal or Unity for them either.

Maybe I'm super late to the party cause I stopped giving a shit some time ago, but I just learned that environmental resistance ratings have absolutely no impact in the game, never have even when they introduced survival settings, and to this day still hasn't been fixed by Bethesda. (but has been fixed by annoyed dudes)

Essentially, BGS classified planet environments as "abilities" instead of "diseases" in their system. So on an inferno planet, suit protection will be depleted in the exact same time, and health lost at the exact same rate regardless of the suit thermal protection value, because "abilities" do not account for resistance values. Your value is 0 regardless of the suit. The fix is simply to set planet environments as "diseases" which take into account the suit resistance values. There some mods that just make this fix

After fixing, suit protection takes much longer to deplete if a high protection value is matched to the planet environment. No more getting hypothermia minutes after landing with a 85 thermal rated suit. I debated just turning environmental effects off because many don't make physical sense but this does add some survival flavor to the game.

BGS has still not officially fixed this. I'm annoyed I had to spend time to figure out something so simple and should not need to find a mod for this.

There aren't any characters worth looking at naked. Everyone in this game is an annoying pajeet or a grandma who suffer from "millennial dialogue" syndrome.
Yea the Indian thing is super weird. I can't think of a single Indian NPC in Fallout 4 and then Starfield comes out and probably a third of NPCs maybe even more is East Indian.

It's because Starfield is a "realistic" sci-fi especially when it comes to demographics. Poos are going to replace us all, and that's also why you never see any white people around.

In fairness, how much of Starfield was outsourced to Pajeets compared to Fallout 4? Between brain drain of people who know how to make Creation... work is a strong term, and the way Bethesda's ballooned in the years between, there's likely enough 'Jeets in staff/being outsourced to that models were inevitably in their hands.

I'm sure Fallout 4 (when released) was still at least the Skyrim team plus ID Tech (near all the gunplay is from them).
Now, with the latest patch, they fucked up a lot of things.
Something happened post-covid, i'm aware of it.

Everybody, even somebody, being a nigger or streetshitter is the least realistic thing about the whole game. Only a small percent of humanity was able to make the exodus from Earth, and this modern bougie shit won't fly when the choices are saving one morbidly obese, retarded, physically incapable Tyquondeesha, or five Europeans or a dozen slants.

I fantasize about stealing office furniture at Bethesda to make up for the money I naively wasted on Shartfield. That is how much I regret my pre-order of it. The nostalgia of Oblivion and Morrowind blinded me to what a catastrophe Starfield could be.

I initially thought that Bethesda was just trying to be mysterious about their first new IP, but turns out they were just trying to hide their laziness and ugliness.

Do you go blind and not see what gigantic red flags Fallout 4 and Fallout 76 were?

It's been a long time since Oblivion dude.

Explains the calamity that happened to Earth. The jeets redeem'd

I was hopiumd on it when they mentioned they were going back to their roots.
But I managed to hold off on buying. I had been burned TOO many times. But god I feel your pain.
Its like seeing an old friend on drugs and wanting to help them but you know they're gonna just take cash and buy more drugs.

You have way more hope than me when it comes to this kind of thing. Far more likely that it would be a dozen Jews and a thousand brown golems to serve them in space while Euros get left behind to die.

Do not redeem the Earth's gravity sir! Do not!

That's a retarded plot point.

The visual inconsistency of this game has to be seen to be believed. You'll go on one space station that's gleaming Nasapunk and then the one next to it is retro low sci fi a la Aliens. Then you land on a nearby planet and it's a rustic wild west cowboy town or a steam punk world.

I'm convinced 75-80% of this was completely AI generated with no editing.

It certainly wasn’t play tested.
