Live updates: Brush fire burns in Pacific Palisades as Santa Ana winds blast Southern California - Live video at link

I agree in a sense but you have to find some levity in tragedy. If no one's laughing at the craziness of it all, pain will fill the space where clarity should be and plant itself like an invasive weed in the thoughts of anyone witnessing this shit. Serenity prayer and all that.
Hey I'd be hugely upset if this were in Ohio or something, even New York state, even Mississippi or Kansas or North Dakota or even Oregon.

But it's in fucking California. If some megavolcano erupted and obliterated California from the face of the planet and gave us what Bill Hicks called Arizona Bay as a replacement, the world would be vastly improved.

But what about trans folks whos dilation devices are left behind in the fire?

SOMEONE THINK OF THE TRANNIES

seriously though, for LA kiwis is there a real risk much of LA could be destroyed? what's being destroyed? is it mostly homes? is this covered by insurance?
Supposedly several of the big insurers canceled everybody and quit the state a few weeks ago. I'm guessing they ran the numbers and said "yep! Everybody's fucked this year!"

This is dumb. Indians didn’t live in the forest. They did not have fire trucks.
Tribes used control burn methods to tend forests (where they did and still do live) for thousands of years before the state of California specifically banned cultural burning in 1850. The state of California only lifted that ban in 2022. The approach of state agencies fire management has mostly been suppression for the last hundred years.

Makes sense. A bunch of insurance carriers are probably going to become insolvent and fucked. Oh no, mi camión de tacos ahora es escombros quemados. Dios mío!

ON KTLA 5 they just attempted a fixed wing water drop on what appeared to be fuck all but just in this picture you can see how badly the water gets dispersed with such high winds, 2 frames later its just a mist on the breeze moving downrange
I think this is more of a damage control/suppression drop, instead of trying to put it out in one fell swoop. Get things damp and try to slow the spread. IDK for sure, I'm not a fire science expert.

Also saw that Cali's state home insurance company is allegedly completely fucked with their exposure to all this. So either they tell everyone who lost their home to get fucked or the taxpayers bail em out.

It's five billion in exposure they've got less than a billion on hand.

No bailouts and what money they do have is split equitably across all claims with no additional payouts to anyone just because they had a more valuable home. Commiefornia deserves a taste of its own socialist medicine.

It's going to be much worse if the wind does shift south as even if buildings don't catch on fire, there's a high possibility of smoke damage.

My state is constantly getting obliterated by hurricanes so I can't help but empathize with anyone who has lost something as a result of the fires, even if I sometimes find myself hoping that California detaches from the rest of the continent and slides into the ocean anytime I have to hear about it.

Guys, making fun of California Hispanics and hobos burning to death isn't funny! Think of all the people in the land you can't afford to burning away while Biden talks about more Ukraine aid. It just isn't funny, guys! There is nothing comical about the rot of the earth getting possibly worse treatment than North Carolina!
If anyone here is crying about muh poor Californians, we can ship all these illegals from all around the country to replace them afterwards. Maybe they can build a better LA out of mudhuts or wherever these animals lived back home when there is nothing left. Anything is better than current LA, honestly, and then nobody will cry "THINK OF THE POOR BASED BABY BOOMERS!" when New LA gets repopulated by tens of thousands of new anchor babies.
>be American in 1800's
>need lots of trees for rail ties
>don't know jack shit about trees except that they're good and pretty and shit
>ask the Aussies to supply some of their trees
>they sent Eucalyptus trees with much gusto
>they don't mention that Eucalyptus trees take over 100 years to fully mature
>countless investors go broke
>fast forward to today
>Eucalyptus trees have spread all over the place and have finally matured
>Aussies also forgot to mention that Eucalyptus trees produce a toxic, highly flammable oil that builds up in them and literally explodes into fire when the heat reaches a certain point
>now it happens and keeps happening

Aussie shitpost centuries in the making, ladies and gents.
And as always, their humor goes unappreciated by most.

It's like you and everyone other tiny little baby person or whatever can't remember what the other (blue) states said about the hurricane damage and the people affected by it.

Actually it's an Indian tactic I like to call: "pretending to do shit"

Like I posted when the hurricane happened and jeets were joyriding on my streets around in circles in the power company trucks and ignoring lines down right in front of them over and over, it's their specialty. Pretend to be helping and don't do shit.
