It's not the miles away. It's the wind direction and speed. The winds have been 40 mph with high stretches of bursts of 80-90mph. If he's downwind with 40mph winds he's got maybe an hour or less. Depending on terrain and flamables separating the fire from him.

I have it on good authority from irl sources that the sympathy electricity shutdowns were ordered by known higher-up incompetents who refused to take any advice and the fact that anyone’s power is turning back on at all now is due to ceaseless screaming from local crews at said incompetent suit monkeys. There was no rhyme or reason and any official from SCE coming out and telling us otherwise is a liar.

Heads should roll for this. Regular average citizens lost money, food, school days, all because some retard shot his wad too soon and flipped down the big red lever without asking permission.

Your average SoCal suburban family doesn’t have a generator.

I’m a paranoid hag so I have been in a position to assist, rather than passively suffer, but most people don’t live like me. Especially not here.

To be more accurate, CA legilatards have banned the sale of new ones. I don’t think anyone will show up at your house and drag you to prison for using one that you already possess. But, as we’ve discussed at length in here, regulations just make everything more expensive and inaccessible to the average Joe.
