Live updates: Brush fire burns in Pacific Palisades as Santa Ana winds blast Southern California - Live video at link

The Congressional hearings for this are going to be thermo nuclear. There is no way this is not a total system failure of municipal and state government leading to national level economic and political damage. Newsom himself may very well be summoned before congress, the ultimate disgrace for a sovereign governor. It was already bad, but now that State officials are knifing each other while the fire burns uncontrolled is beyond the pale. Absolutely disgusting.

Remember California. You elected these people.

Newsom needs sacking. I don't care what legal bullshit the feds have to do. Remove him. It's fucking time. A hearing isn't enough. The governor must answer for the failures of his underlings. Nothing short of full stripping of powers will satisfy that.

Fox 11 Los Angeles says that they just contacted the mayoral office and were told that this Daily Mail article is wrong, the fire chief has not been fired nor resigned.
Could be an effective rumor to cockblock they major from firing her, if you know how to use the rumor mills.

Intrigue.

The reply they got was from the mayor's PR team, so take it with a grain of salt.
They'll just deny until it's official (paperwork done, press conference, etc)

That Daily Mail article has been updated. Sorry I didn’t archive it before but I’m on the phone right now (somebody probably did). This is what it says now.

You could look at Greensburg, Kansas that was pretty much wiped off the map after it got by a tornado in 2007. 90% of the population was homeless as a result. Many years later and they finally rebuilt the city. Though they forced to be a "green city". Of course this still cant compare to multimillion dollar mansions. God only knows how long it will even take to teardown and clean the rubble, especially with the nightmare of California red tape.

I drove through Greensburg just a few months later. That tornado totally bisected the town, and it went from no visible damage, to ever-increasing damage, to the ground scraped clean, and then the reverse in about half a mile.

Its a power struggle now. The mayor probably told her to her face that she was fired, and now the fight is to actually make her being fired or not legal. Which requires paperwork, signatures, and most important of all, people putting their names legally to the actions.

What fun. So glorious that the government of America's second largest city is now preoccupied by how to fire or not fire its Fire Chief while the city burns. I feel like there is a Marx Brothers skit hiding in the prior sentence.
