Sony hate thread

If Microsoft leaves the console market, I think Sony will get worse as a console manufacturer and first party publisher. Nintendo is not directly competing with either Sony nor Microsoft; the Switch and their exclusives proved that they can maintain relevancy through focusing on the core experience of gaming over immaterial trends. Xbox and PlayStation are practically indistinguishable from one another besides exclusives, which Sony DOES have compared to Microsoft.

But, if those exclusives continue to stagnant, Sony would try to enter the PC market since their exclusives will inevitable reach that platform anyway. At least with Microsoft, they could compete with one another while matching the same graphic fidelity. If Sony would try their hand in the handheld market, they'll have the Nintendo Switch successor AND the Steam Deck to attest with. There'd be no reason to improve as they don't have direct competition.

Some more news.

European hardware sales down 20% across the board; 15% Switch decrease, 48% Xbox decrease, PS5 20% decrease Year-on-year. Christmas sales will be a bloodbath.

So much for the PS5PRO moving millions of units or a price drop moving millions of units.

The Sonygger cope? "The PS5 is at the end of it's life" - what they don't realise is Switch is older and has less of a drop.

Soyny fans also downplaying the power of the Switch 2 which is leaked to be 1.8-3.0 Tflops with 12 gbs RAM. It's a Portable PS4 and will sell gang busters.

GTA 6 launches in November (supposedly). By then, it will be too late to move PS5 units in any decent number.

Sony are really snookered.

The Switch achieved above and beyond all expectations and everything that it could be asked of it. It has finally reached its sunset stage and everyone who wanted one already bought it, the market is saturated and people are clamoring for the Switch 2. That's why the sales will continue to drop, it is expected.

The Xbox is an afterthought, even Microsoft doesn't care about it. The " This is an Xbox" campaign shows that they are ready to move on to a full digital cloud service for games, hardware doesn't matter for their future plans. I'm not even certain there will be a follow up to the Series X after all is said and done. Instead they might focus on delivering a proper interface for running Windows on the ever growing selection of portable PC handhelds and make that an easier way to experience Game Pass.

Sony has done nothing but stepping on one rake after another, I truly believe the failure of Concord caused more damage to their morale as a company than a financial one, they were betting everything on that franchise only to realize they were completely clueless and detached from the audience and there are more projects in the pipeline that now have every possibility to fail as well because these follow the same blueprint. (FairGame$ may be cancelled, I don't think Sony can take further embarrassment trying to release another live service game with ugly characters that they'll have to shut down two weeks after launch due to lack of players.)

The PS5Pro is stupid, $700 for barely noticeable improvements and no disc drive, People don't care how photo-realistic is the peach fur in Aloy's chubby cheeks or the pores in Abby's man jaw. Marvel Rivals has shown that the audience wants stylish graphics, appealing, beautiful characters and fun game play. Sony has nothing in the pipeline even remotely close to that, (Intergalactic, LMAO) meanwhile Nintendo is about to release a console that will be able to deliver just the right level of graphical fidelity for smart third party developers to create what the audience wants. Together with Nintendo's own franchises, the Switch 2 is set to be another major success.

If the Switch 2 delivers a docked experience that is similar enough to current consoles, together with a greater selection of third party support and at a better price point, then 2025 is going to be a bloodbath for Sony,

Sony gets arrogant and lazy when there's no competition. See: PS2 EoL and PS3 early years and all of the PS5 gen.
Save us Sega

Not disputing Sony's arrogance, but what was wrong with the later years of the PS2? 2006 wasn't the greatest because they were putting most of their big studios on 2007 PS3 games, but God of War 2 released six months after the new console did.

The Switch achieved
Excellent post, 10/10. You sum up all three manufacturers. I'll just add, that 60 million PSN users; accounting for 50% of Sony's CURRENT GEN revenue is sitting on the previous gen, PS4.
If switch 2 can achieve PS4 graphics on the go, and all signs say it can, then Nintendo will steal a yuge chunk of Sony's lunch.

As you say, 2025 will be a bloodbath for Sony.

They refused to innovate until Xbox came along. No 4-player control slots, no HDD, no dashboard interface, behind-the-times online play. Small things, sure, but indicators of a company who wouldn't innovate because they saw no reason to.

Sony eventually offered all of these things but they were all add-ons to be sold piecemeal. The PS3 was meant to be sold at a high price and Soyny faggots were going to buy it because it was Playstation. Microsoft pissed on their parade.

I take solace in the fact that nobody who worked on arcade development from the mid to late 90s still works in videogames. A "reborn" SEGA console would be a vessel for endless retro compilations, and the same amount of soulless slop that's being pushed everywhere else. If anything, it would accent the fact that both PC and mobile have drenched the market with a new, horrifying status quo.

You would think, but Sega has been flopping around like a fish saying things like "we aren't a retro company" and trying to get people hyped up about their subscription service.

If they released a new console now, it would be DOA, and Sega would be seen as an even bigger joke than they already are.

Do you think GTA 6 will get ported to the Switch 2 at some point? I mean of course the game will be downgraded to run on a portable system but Rockstar would have to be retarded to not want to jump onto that cashcow.

The games, at Oregon-based Bend Studio and Texas-based Bluepoint Games, were both “live service” projects designed to have recurring revenue from players. They were part of an ongoing strategy for those types of games, launched by PlayStation several years ago, that has led to mixed results.

NO. FUCKING. GAMES.

:story: Sony had two more unannounced "live-service" games in the pipeline :story:

Fairgame$, Marathon and Bungies "gummy bears" will turn it around bros

With Concord, FairGame$, Marathon and "GummyBears" it means they had planned to have SIX of these accursed things out at the same time. How can they be this out of touch?!

Players don't have the time or money to spend on multiple titles like these! Players pick one live service and stick with it for months or years and when they get bored, frustrated or the game shuts down, they jump to another title and start over. Who wants to bet these unknown titles had a roster of DEI ugly ass bitches as well?

The Switch 2 is underwhelming but the most credit I can give is that it will absolutely rape Sony and Microshit until they both withdraw from the gaming industry. Sony in particular is wasting untold millions with these shitty live service projects that fail or get canceled. Sooner or later the japs are going to have enough of it and they will kill the Playstation division
