Of course Russ doesn't have the money. This will cause a few things. One is it presents an encouragement for Russel to wish to settle the matter to make those fees disapear.
if theres a chance for hardin to get paid by russ instead of the lolsuit fund, its best to get it from russ. that said, revenge can always backfire with unforseen consequences. temperance is a good play.

Null has already stated he is not interested in any form of settlement. Russell could offer him a total dismissal, every single cent and asset he owns in the world, a crying videotaped apology in a ballerina's tutu and a slobbery gimpfaced rimjob, and Null would still tell him to go fuck himself because he doesn't want the case record to end with 'settled' and encourage other retards to sue him.
If Null monetizes a video of that he could fund pizza day for decades. It'd be quite a sight to see the unclosable mouth attempt a blowjob as well.

Probably been discussed before, but it's worth mentioning again. Russ's fixation on getting this $225 payment right now is a real tell on his true financial situation.
Maybe, but I think the reason for the sudden demand is because he actually does want out of this case. Hardin started filing motions, the judge is no longer in his favor, and Russ recognizes he's in over his head. The main things he cared about, harassment and defmation, are dropped, and he can't weasel them back in. His bluff about witnesses got called and blew up in his face. He can't sit on his couch and comfortably type up bullshit briefs, he's stuck scrambling through emails on his phone in his car in between DoorDash orders. It's just not fun and exciting any more.

But he still wants to salvage a "win" out of it, and in his tiny retard mind he's halfway there with his precious 10th Appeals court ruling. If he can collect some actual money, anything, that's the furthest Russ will have ever succeeded in a lawsuit. So he wants to grab that $225 then drop the case. That will let him claim that the higher court said he was correct and the proof is that he got paid, even though real justice was thwarted by unethical lawyers and unsympathetic judges. "I could have got more, but I wanted to move on with my life, so I graciously let that evil place off the hook."

Russ having to pay Hardin destroys part of that precious little narrative. The complete destruction has to come from the judge tossing the case, which he is infuriatingly unwilling to do.

It's whatever is best for Null and KF a website. Just ending this cleanly in a way that drippy cannot appeal and with him surrendering all claims real or imagined going forward, just for the costs null has been willing and able to pay is a reasonable decision. Especially given the costs and efforts that will be required to collect. We should not be upset if there is a settlement to nulls advantage.

No quarter for people who sue the Farms. Even the most reasonable settlement offer has to be weighed against the deterrent factor of heads on pikes, which can only happen with a Total Kiwi Victory via public judicial order and judgment saying they were wrong and we were right and we win.

The average American schlub sees "he settled" as an admission of guilt, regardless of the details. The retards who want to hurt Null and KF a website may well see a settlement as an invitation to start their own shit. Greer needs to unambiguously lose this case.

I'd like to believe that the judge is pissed enough to let the case continue so he continue slapping sanctions on the gimp-faced retard until he decides to withdraw the case himself. If he tosses the case Russ will appeal it under the assumption that perhaps the sanctions could also be undone along with the other things that have happened by his best friends forever in the 10th. The process is the punishment and Greer is constitutionally entitled to as much of it as he wishes to visit upon himself.

Let him rack up an impossible debt that he'll pay off for the rest of his life so that the next retard that thinks suing the Farms is a smart move can see the fate that ultimately awaits them should they be so foolish to try. Let the Ghost of Lolcows Present show them a grimy man barely living out of his car while having his wages garnished so that he can no longer afford to get him his penis sucked.

Agreed. Is this not why we all threw in our shekels to help dear feeder and the most patient and based attorney on earth fight all the nonsense lolsuits the cows can throw at us? It's not just the farms, either, it's the fact that the right to say hurty words on the internet is currently squarely in the sights of globohomo and is a lynchpin of civil liberties. See: Elon Musk rescuing twitter, bluesky offering comfortable censorship, Britbong Land arrests white people for pointing out things that are true, etc etc etc.

It just so happens that this site is owned and operated by a stubborn fuck, represented by a stubborn fuck, and populated by stubborn fucks willing to put their money where their mouths are to protect the right to say hurty things about people, and more importantly document true-but-inconvenient facts/crimes/evidence that both powerful and powerless people want to memoryhole, while 90-95% of the rest of the world will just cave for the sake of an easy life.

It's super gay and retarded that this is so, but I guess some of us just have gay and retarded thrust upon us.

So the judge decided Hardin should get some money from Greer. Hardin tells Greer how much, and if he wasn't recalcitrant and willful, he'd just write Hardin a check, or I guess they come up with a payment schedule. If Greer doesn't cough up the dough, Hardin has to tell the court and give them a list of what he is owed, and then I presume the court tells Greer to pay up. What happens if he doesn't, then? In my country there are judicial enforcement officers (bailiffs?) who can show up and get your money or your stuff, which is then auctioned, in order to satisfy your debts. Does that exist in the states? Or does Hardin just sell the debt to some russian guys, who are usually way better at convincing people to pay up?

I refer you to the fun and amusement that is the PayQuasi story, as it's basically exactly the same thing. Patrick fucked up discovery so hard that Quasi was awarded costs and fees ($34k) and then refused to pay or admit it existed, so Quasi had to hire lawyers to do all the shit necessary to domesticate the debt in Wisconsin, and finally got it pushed up Rick's fat ass (at which point it was $83k and change).

If you accept and admit the failing, you can have the court approve a payment plan (which can be surprisingly reasonable) and just slowly pay it off.

It's when you're a recalcitrant fucktard that it gets fun.

Almost no civil cases go to trial. Also trials are expensive and Greers case isn't worth a trial.
Almost no civil cases go to trial because they settle. If they make it past motions to dismiss at the outset and motions for summary judgment at the close of discovery, that finding of some merit means that defendants are at risk of getting adverse judgments. Most defendants will pussy out at that stage, get scared of the time and expense of going to trial, weigh the real risk of losing and the damage model being used, and decide it’s better to write a check for an amount certain than gamble on that uncertainty, no matter how confident they are. Also, the defendants themselves aren’t writing the checks, mostly it’s corporate insurance, and insurance is notoriously risk-averse.

Kiwi Farms isn’t most defendants. We’re not at the close of discovery and the MSJ stage yet where we can bounce the case for no evidence. We’re not pussies who want to wimp out of taking a case to trial. And we’re self-funded. Well-oiled and ready for the long haul, if you will. The last bulwark against retards is, apparently, more retards.

If I'm not mistaken, the original show cause order for why Russell shouldn't have to pay Hardin's fees was only in regards to that ONE motion to exclude evidence

The fake witness shit must've really pissed off the Judge since he decided to instead reach back in time 7 MONTHS to fine Russ!

Y'know, when the case is finally over and done I really really want null to talk about all of it. Like an entire full comprehensive story with every detail he has had to be vague on non confrontational on fully discussed. Maybe even it's own stream.
Null is going to write a book. "Why Russell Greer Sued Me: and How I Became Falsely Known as Mean, a Website and a Hardship."

Then someone is going to post it to the evil hate site "KiwiFarms" and then Null will sue that website for stealing his book, win, and make a bazillion dollars.
