Nintendo Switch (Currently Plagued) - Here we shit post about the new Nintendo console, The Switch

There's also the possibility that there isn't even a new Mario Kart game being made, it could have just been a tech demo they quickly shat out to demonstrate the hardware. Despite the new assets, the graphics quality wasn't that much better than Mario Kart 8 and it's trivial for them to just take the existing engine, add new higher res models and call it a day
They officially wrapped up MK8 DLC and started "a new project" two years ago. Since that team only makes Mario Kart, the new project was obviously Mario Kart. And there it is..

I feel gaming in general has reached its peak. What more CAN you do at this point? VR has came and went, the Switch 2 looks to be a derivate improvement from the original, PS5 has no exclusives, Xbox is just banking on being a platform. Nothing would really impress anymore compared to the 90s into the 00s.

Nintendo playing it safe is so that existing Switch owners won't feel left out from their catalog AND that Nintendo could profit from their first party titles at their original MSRP (we all know Nintendo games rarely go down in price for whatever reason.) I don't condemn them for it; it's more or less "we've seen this before."

Sword Art Online style VR, with sense and nerve hijacking?

The next level in gaming may be one with full AI, one you can basically have a real-time conversation with.

Nintendo has historically been a few years late with gaming trends, both good and bad. They probably have another successful generation left in them while Playstation and Xbox fade into irrelevance before the nu-execs realize they can make a shitton of money by just dumping their games on PC.
The day that i see Nintendont on Steam would just make me happy. But it’ll probably be a stupid ass app that has a subscription because Nintendont hates pc gamers.

Playstation still has a large (albeit shrinking) horde of true believers who will buy anything they make. Case in point, PS5 has sold way more than it had any right to.
Yes but what will be the point of making the PS6? The next console won't have any major improvements over the previous one aside from maybe being able to run GTA VI at 60fps instead of 30, but by the time the new console is out surely all of Sony's major games will already be on PC and any new releases will likely be on PC day one by that point, already negating another console generation.

I fell like some clarification is in order:
Nintendont is a project to play GameCube games on the Wii and Wii U (in vWii mode). It is impossible to port to PC as it uses APIs and hardware specific to the Wii, basically taking advantage of existing support for GameCube games that was in the original Wii model then was disabled in further hardware revisions (and adding support for things like USB controllers and ripped game files). it is more like a patch or mod then a full emulator.
Dolphin is the project to play GameCube and Wii games on PC. There was an attempt to bring it to Steam but it was cancelled due to legal concerns.

Steam Deck will break through when it costs less than a PC, does not come with all the headaches a PC does for a normie and gives value that can’t be beat by a laptop.
The base handheld Steam OS is a lot simpler than a desktop OS, which already lowers the barrier of entry for the average joe. Desktop mode is basically just a repainted Linux distro, but you don't have to use it to play games that are already Steam Deck Certified. It does have a long way to go, but if you're trying to introduce PC gaming to someone who's never done it before, Steam Deck is an easier choice than a laptop.

SAO tech would push everything forward, especially when used on other games besides a MMO bore simulator, but I'm not sure exactly how feasible anything like that really is.

I believe there is research into it, but it'll effectively require an implant or other medical procedure.

You could use a omnidirectional treadmill and full feedback suit but that's too expensive for regular usage.

Most likely the first stage would be holographic tech, where you wear something like the Hololens that overlays a game onto reality, like a virtual chessboard on an otherwise empty table that you interact with using basic feedback gloves.

Yu-Gi-Oh would be a great proof of concept for that holodeck stuff. There's money to be made there.

Better AI. We're caught up in retarded gimmick shit like bad image generators and scams, but building games full of autonomous agents could really open up some new possibilities. We probably won't see anything competently doing this until the 2030s though when you can run current good models on the 2030s equivalent of a $20 raspberry pi and so games can do it without really running into performance limitations.

VR has came and went
VR's still kicking and it does get better every year. Unlike processing power though, the core parts of VR headsets don't experience exponential progress so it can feel like nothing's going on when in fact the current generation of headsets are completely night-and-day over what was around ten years ago.

However, I will say that *a lot* of kids are growing up with the Quest line of headsets and I wouldn't be surprised if, like AI, we see VR become a major facet of culture in the 2030s. For example, Gorilla Tag, a VR only game, has more than 3 million monthly users. There's a small European country's worth of children whose formative childhood experience is a VR game where you run around climbing on trees and calling other children slurs. They're going to grow up thinking about VR games the way we might think about SNES or Playstation games.

Been thinking about this recently and perhaps a new type of display method that allows to see true holographic images. It would looks like a regular display but the images have true stereoscopic depth to them. Shifting your head and position also shifts the perspective of what you are seeing, the field of view being dynamic depending on how close or far you are from the screen. It'll give the impression of looking at a real space behind the panel and not just a flat image. It goes without saying but for this to be successful it would require no glasses, headsets or any additional equipment to work.

there was something like that made with a wii as a prototype, it was two wiimotes working in tandem to create a 3d space, but was dependant on the remote position; not the player.

using the tech of the new 3ds would be possible woth face tracking, but using it for a tv is not only expensive; it could not work with multiple people.

If the Switch 2 has patches for prior Nintendo games so they can run better I’ll buy within the first year. I would love to play the Newest Zeldas and Bayonetta 3 with 60 FPS.

The only real reason I don’t think that’ll happen is because Nintendo can be lazy and they want people paying for new games not just enjoying their backlog.

tears of the kingdom was shown to be running at 60 fps with a higher resolution behind closed doors.
still no word if it's because of the switch 2 emulating it to be better or them grifting making a switch 2 port.
