General Wrestling Discussion

I could see them doing it just to get the Tape Library since most of the legends and current stars have footage there. Just continue to grow the vault.
To be honest, I don't know why people continue to push these speculations but clearly some IWC nutjobs on Xitter thought WWE would be buying TNA based on some vague announcement from Triple H last year. I never bought into the rumors because they lacked a lot of evidence and it is clear that they still lack that evidence. Closest we ever legitimately got to that was WWE almost buying Pro Wrestling NOAH but they still got WWE's attention even if they were not bought. However, NOAH was in a similar situation to what TNA was in during the 2010s but under different circumstances. Mainly Yakuza involvement which almost killed the company after Mitsuharu Misawa died. As some of you might know, having Yakuza ties can be quite controversial in Japan. However, the Yakuza incident that almost killed Pro Wrestling NOAH was caused by a Yakuza couple who sponsored wrestlers by scamming old people out of their money. They even scammed the widow of Misawa.

Christopher Daniels last match is probably going to be on this weeks Collision. A great wrestler who just never managed to get his shot at the big time despite a few appearances for WWE over the years along with a solid career in the indies/TNA/Japan. A consummate good hand.

Also, AEWs Australia show is turning out to be a bit of a disaster. They had to downsize venues, the tickets are still too expensive, Brisbane is a whatever city, they aren't advertising it locally at all, the card has fuck all announced for it and they are putting it on US TV for free in the early hours of the morning. A badly planned house show that came out of TK having a mad notion that he could run a stadium show in a random city in a country that doesn't have a particularly strong following for pro-wrestling.

Because TK wanted to one-up WWE Elimination Chamber in Australia.
Dude is flying a good portion of his roster to australia for an episode of collision. I really want to see their books because What the fuck. Even in the states for Double or Nothing his talent alone was 3 million. So I can imagine how much it is just for Grand Slam.

Also lmao....They have been producing television for 4 years now? How do you suck so bad at timing your tv show.

penta keeps looking at the hardcam side, he's shocked to see people

"Tony told me people aren't even allowed in that part of the arena, what the fuck?!!"

It's so goofy, WWE has had decades to nail and improve their promotion skills while AEW still struggles in that regard. I feel like Tony bought into the idea that there's another "wrestling boom", but it's mostly just been a boom for WWE as far as I can tell.

I still just don't get the love for Cody. He's OK. The 3-Star general. And that's fine, but that's all I see. An above average wrestler. I don't get where the popularity comes from or why.

I do enjoy how he carries himself, though. He's self aware enough about how retarded wrestling is without going around constantly winking and nudging people about how it's fake, but he's not trying to treat it like it's a serious and real sport deserving of respect. He's got a nice middle ground approach.
But that's about as far as my appreciation and understanding of the Ender of Racism goes.
At his worst he's still better than a saltwater nigger part time leukemia having overrated can't cut a promo jabroni as champ..

Cody Pride Worldwide, Gas the Marks! Fed war now!

An upcoming "based on a true story" movie about Mildred Burke. Also has Toni Storm and Kamille and everyone's favorite proclaimer of niggers with niggerfaggot sons, Walton Goggins.

Or say Moxley who at this point looks and sounds like a guy who would steal your car stereo and then try to sell it right back to you for meth money.

there is a point to be made about that but Moxley has done seriously dumb shit when given creative control over his character and in my personal opinion hes basically unsalvageable at this point, hes in arguably a similar point that Edge is in despite being years younger, at least with Penta he didn't do nearly anything as lame as they have.
Just give Moxley a retard gimmick. In the WWE, Mox was at his best when he was goofy as fuck and doing shit like dressing like the Mountie. Hell, force the fucker to use the Mountie gimmick and annoy Seth Rollins constantly trying to arrest him for his fashion crimes.

He puts on matches that are good and he has the charisma and personality to make an actually likable white meat babyface especially because he avoids alot of the vince-isms that tainted alot of past top face attempts where they'd just come out and make corny jokes and undermine their opponent and not take them seriously even when they lose when Cody does shit you get the feeling he actually cares about shit he gets angry he wants to win and carry the title with pride

It is bizarre that TK copies NJPW so much but ignores the fact that they handle factions better than anyone because they keep them around for years and have them as a part of their storylines rather than making them the entire storyline.

It makes a big deal out of people leaving/joining, heel/face turns, the entire thing imploding etc.
The NJPW faction thing doesn't work with American wrestling because American wrestling has weekly TV with multiple storylines going on. Puro has seasonal tours leading up to the card of the month. The extent of their "storylines" is press conferences.

You can buy that NJPW factions are like MMA training camps. You really can't do that when you have 10 bloated stables having meaningless feuds on weekly TV and it looks like the Wolfpac B-team vs. the black and white C-team.

Speaking of NJPW, how's that AEW partnership going for them? I bet they're really loving the "reach" it's brought them in America...

He's a Japanese wrestling mark, so he's going to copy everything they do. Meltzer is the same way. For years people have been championing that Jap style wrestling, if given the chance, could flourish in the US. AEW has proven that is not the case and it only has a very niche audience outside of Asia.

I'll forever hate Tony Khan for giving puro such a bad reputation, if it wasn't for him and those Four Pillows, puro would still be gatekeeped, protected from Twitter and Reddit's awful opinions, nobody gave a fuck if Metzler raved about it back then.

Puro is not perfect by any means but the fact Cornette and co disrespect their wrestlers and history to such a degree now really makes me nauseous they are being labelled historians. It is what it is, with horrible presentation as AEW has even Flair in his prime would appear mediocre.

Ehh, I wouldn't say Cornette shits on 70s and 80s puro, it seems like he has a high respect for it because of all the talent that he was familiar with that worked for Baba and Inoki in that period. He craps on modern puro and joshi all the time because AEW poisoned that well, and can you really blame him? When you turn on Dynamite and see Okada making a fool out of himself, or Jay White getting buried, or Minoru Suzuki being sold as this force of destruction while he hobbles around the ring, does it make you want to go back and watch their matches in Japan if you've never seen them before?

I hate Tony more for his shitty booking. It's incredible how many start and stop pushes there's been, killing off peoples momentum, losing your biggest star and in my opinion his worst fault pushing the people because they're his friends. The Jaggies are a close second but I'll keep it to only wrassling.

Kenny wrestling that blow up doll and doing the J.O.B. for that little girl is what killed all respect Corny had for Puro.
Which is retarded, it was a cutesy "look at what the grown man is doing for a child in training" thing. The Japanese didn't take it seriously, it was clearly a joke thing on a small card in a tiny building with basically nobody in attendance. But Cornette treats it like it was the Main Event of Raw or something.

Yea, Tiny has nothing to do with how Puro is seen. Anyone who knows anything about Japanese wrestling knows it's just a paycheck for the wrestlers and they are putting in about, 30% effort. Just look at how great Ishii, Suzuki or Shibata's matches and booking have been. Hell, even though Okada is supposedly getting a big push he's just been treading water the past year.

The first (and only) episode of AEW I ever watched happened to be the 200th episode of Dynamite. I wasn't really into it. But the second I saw Penta, I sat up and thought "this guy has it". I haven't really felt that way about a wrestler since Shinsuke debuted in Smackdown back in 2017 (closest is probably Jacob Fatu, he had a great debut). So yeah, I can't wait to see more of this guy! His merch is gonna sell like gangbusters.
