What I love about that is Bob's implication that Fire Emblem isn't immensely popular in the West right now and Nintendo's market research wouldn't bear that conclusion out. It's one of their most successful and well received franchises at the moment. If Nintendo wasn't paying attention to the market, they would have cancelled the series after Awakening.
Honestly, what Nintendo franchises does Bob think are getting left out in the cold right now besides Metroid (I'll be shocked if we don't see a new one announced by E3), F-Zero (which I imagine Nintendo considers their lesser racing series at this point) and Golden Sun (Camelot hasn't made or announced anything since 2015 so this one wouldn't surprise me either considering how aggressively Nintendo seems to be courting JRPGs on the Switch.) I know a lot of people are gonna say Mother but as badly as I want more, that series is over unless Itoi changes his mind and I think it's pretty obvious to anyone whose head isn't in the clouds that a localization of a quirky turn based RPG on the GBA is so niche it might not even matter to them. Everyone always begs for Nintendo to just use the fan translation but they'd NEVER do that and so long as Clyde Mandelin hasn't gotten a Cease and Desist letter in the mail to take the patch down, I'm pretty comfortable assuming Nintendo recognizes that the market isn't there and they're allowing that to exist as a goodwill gesture to the fans. What's really left after that for Bob to be referring to? A lot of classic Nintendo series wouldn't have any name recognition on the market at this point. I mean, I'm holding a torch for Mole Mania 2 as much as the next guy but I know Fire Emblem takes priority.
Of course, this is the guy who not but a few days ago suggested that WWE Films should be dominating the midtier action genre (something they pretty much tried and failed to do) as opposed to licensing out the stars to be in shit movies that will make money just on the name recognition of the star and the fact that the stuff they're making is cheap as hell or that the best way to reboot every classic 80s action franchise is to make it about progressives getting to spray hillbilly brains across the wall, because that kind of ego couldn't win an election so I'm sure it'll sell tickets!
What I'm getting at is that there's a reason Bob is in a basement and not a boardroom.
