Wait it's not a hentai game? I was pissed when I got it free with Playstation + back in October, because I thought it was an actual hentai game. I don't think I even added it to my account.

Edit: I did add it to my account, "Doki Doki Literature Club Plus!"
Boot it up, but do be warned, the "bait" sequence does drag on a bit. I almost turned it off before getting to the interesting part. But once you do, it's an almost uninterrupted stream of unhinged madness that kept me glued to my chair for its entire runtime, which is impressive considering I usually play in 30 minute chunks. The developer also streamed a sort of "commentary playthrough" a year later that someone uploaded to YouTube, which has some interesting information about the process in it, so check that out too if you end up liking it.

It's been enough time now that I've been able to think about this, and honestly, I'm inclined to agree with the idea of "just make games" from the perspective of, as a new game developer, your first major milestone should be to just ship something so you can get experience with the full pipeline from conception to release, including setting up your store pages and whatnot. It's also likely a lot more satisfying than spending 10+ years faffing around with each individual piece and being Valvepilled throwing away close to 100% of your work (ask me how I know). I think it's okay to release something that's not you at your best because, well, you'll never be at your best.
Especially that you can release free games on storefronts like itch.io.
So not only can you gain experience, you also can get feedback and build following at the same time.

Maldy's approach of trying to sell early access, and kickstarting before that, is cancer of modern gaming. If you lack experience you should probably avoid taking money in advance.

Was his "just make games" his plan to destroy the indie scene? Gather as much retards as he can and push them to publish shitty games and flood the store to destruction? Pretty sure one of his advise is "just publish it and see what happens" :story:
Nah the store is already flooded by garbage Jason wouldn’t be able to do much about it. It’s not even that the advice he gives on his website is all that bad honestly. It’s basic sure but not horrible.

I especially like the part where he encourages people to find a team, which is good advice, this is a multi-disciplinary art form and most people aren’t DaVinci.

I think it was just a grift to make himself look better and also thunel people into his publishing business. There’s a lot of money to be made as an indie publisher.

I wonder what his dad thinks about this whole mess. Was he ever proud of his gay furry narcissistic nepo baby boy? Hell he’s probably the reason mald has become this way.
Well he's said (a thousand times) his dad is LITERALLY the fat WoW nerd from South Park, and all Mald does is play WoW 16 hours a day, so one would assume so.

Although that guy pwned all the kids and Mald runs and cries, so maybe not...

I found these on reddit, his other posts indicate that he actually was blizzard staff

forgot this one, also the first comment from my first post was replying to this on r/livestreamfail

Oh, and presenting Scott Cawthon as some kind of inspirational story is just about the dumbest way you can twist his 20 straight years making games nonstop without breaking even. Getting lucky with one super hit after all of that isn't quite the feel-good story that soydevs seem to think it is.
Even then, Scott had to take a criticism, swallow his pride and just roll with it (How creepy his assets were). He did a full pivot, his old games were kids titles played completely straight. Jason would just stretch in his chair at the mere suggestion that he ain't hot shit.

Not too long after piRATesoftware DMCA'd a game on steam (make bideo games as long as you aren't mocking him, clearly, otherwise you'll receive his wrath combined with full 20 years of hacker experience and a chump change of years at blizzard), his own steam page for Heartbound went under a lock of sorts, as steam clearly went through reviews to see if it was being review bombed.

Steam's final verdict? Negative reviews are here to STAY.
